Default mods for a beginner suggestions

what's up guys. I recently purchased my first wrangler 2010black wrangler x auto 2 dr.

I want to start building up on my jeep. What mods do u guys suggest starting off with for a beginner like me.

Unfortunately I do get a lot of highway mileage too which sucks.

I'm also eyeing black rims. Well any suggestions/help would be great. Thanks!

Really depends on what you wanna do with it, but for starters 1st I would remove that plastic piece of crap front "skidplate" just below the front bumper. figure out what kind of off road driving you want to get into, get a lift that will support such off road activities, you say black rims, get some new meats to wrap around them. Maybe make your front bumper a stubby until you can afford to purchase an aftermarket bumper. sway bar disconnects are a good investment. One of the most important investments is a hi lift jack and some other recovery gear. Its kinda a hard question to answer, but i tell you this, WELCOME and get ready to begin the addiction.

I recommend starting out with small essential things. i started with entry guards, "oh sh**" handles, mud flaps cause i live on a dirt road and i didnt want my jeep all chewed to hell in the first year, door handle guards (just incase the ole' lady wears rings and scratches the paint under the handle), and i highly recommend the quadratec floor mats. my buddy dumped an entire McDonalds soda on the floor and the mat caught it all. i also threw on a set of auxilary light mounted on the windshield and i did a little dress up with euro guards on all my lights. also... a trash stash. incredably handy. even though its a little overpriced. check out the write-ups too. i learned a lot there and did some of my own little things like my grille. good luck with the build up!!

EXACTLY! i went cheap with a few parts and i regret it... but hey, everyone does that atleast once. try to fab up your own things to. always your best bet and it will be exactly what you want. throwing in some coil spacers and 33" tires couldnt hurt either..

IMO a good recovery kit is a nice thing to have starting out. It's one of those things that won't get replaced over the course of modding the JK and will always be useful.

If you are going to get rims, then invest in some good tires. The stock ones are mediocre at best.

That is a good place because it will impact the look of Jeep almost as much a lift kit.

You might consider adding some lights after that.

Default Evap Cannister

If you're going to be offroading it (and hopefully you will - cause that's what it's made to do), you should do something about the evaporation cannister. It is the large black plastic box hanging under the bottom of the Jeep with a "hit me" sign on it. If you rip this off on a rock or log, it is very expensive to replace and you need it for the engine to run correctly and to pass emission inspections.

There are relocation kits (I used the Woods kit at Jeepswag.com) and also evap skids - either will do. They are good first mods because they aren't too hard, but you will have significantly improved your Jeep, even though nobody will know cause its underneath.

After that, I added a skit plate to protect the oil pan. Neither of these are flashy, but I decided to protect my investment first.
