Mopar Add Ons
I added the following Mopar items to my JK Unlimited:
1 - 82210230 - Hitch Receiver - This was an extremely easy install as far installing receivers gos. Took about 10 minutes. Only special tool needed is a torque wrench. I will try to add pictures tomorrow.
2 - 82210213 - Wiring Harness w/ 4 pin flat connector - Another very easy item to install. Just need to remove the left rear tail light and plug in the adapter. Then it just slides down under the body and pops right in to the frame with the provide hardware. The 4 pin flat connector hooks in to the mopar hitch. Looks like a factory install when both are done. This took about 5 minutes to complete.
3 - 82210557 - Exterior Driver Mirror - This accessory was not as well designed as the hitch and wiring harness. There were 2 5mm allen bolts that were provided to replace 2 factory torx bolts. One of the allen bolts stripped during the install. The kit includes the mirror, which attaches to a metal plate that bolts to the body. The metal plate come pre-drilled, but three of the holes that use existing torx bolts do not come threaded. The kits advised to use a 1/4-20 tap/die. This is about $5 from the hardware store. Not too bad overall, but I will continue to look to see if anyone else offers anything better.
4. Not sure the part number - Mopar rock rails (as the dealer called it). It is not a step, just seems to protect the body. They fit very well and seem very durable. The list price was about $300, but he sold them to me for $175. Did not seem like too bad of a deal so I went ahead and bought them. I think I would rather have the side steps, but these will do for now. Makes the sides look a little better, and covers (uses) all of the holds in the body.
I will try to add pictures of these add ons tomorrow if I get time.
Can anyone tell me how large of tires I can add to my JK Unlimited without rubbing. I have the base 17x7.5 (I think) rims. I would like to add a lift at some point, but though if I could put a little larger tires on now I might.
Thanks,
Joe

OK, now that the body mount mirror is on what do ya do with the door mounted one? Is there a plate you can put on the door to cover the area where the old mirror was? Or are ya going to drive with 4 mirrors?
It's too bad DC didn't think about this in more depth. DC could have mounted the mirror on the body to begin with for those of us who want to drive doorless. Just a thought.

I did the same thing someone else did on here....just painted an interior door knob wall guard. I only put 1 coat of clear coat on, and it shows....I think it would look better with a few more coats....

Looks great. When you installed the hitch, what did you torque the bolts to? I'll probably be installing mine this weekend.
Thanks,
Mark
P.S. Any idea on what the torque should be on the front tow hooks?
