Default MOPAR cold air intake on a 2012 JKU question

Has anyone installed a MOPAR CAI on a 2012 JKU? Was hoping to get some feedback on it....

I just installed one on a friends 2013. Its well made, install is not too horrid. Hardest parts: installing the grommet and MAf sensor (or whatever it is for our jeep) and installing the nuts on the bottom of the heatshield. Also installing the rubber around the heatshield is something that should have just been done from jeep but oh well.

As for feel noise power no idea. His has 300 miles on it and he is not giving any gas. I'll try to get pics. IMO get something cheaper. In the end its just a pipe and filter. I'm sure its probably even made in the same factory as some other cheaper intakes.

Any update on the performance/sound etc? I know that on the older motors the CAI were kind of a waste of time by themselves. Any change with this newer motor?

No update as owner doesnt like flooring it and without flooring you wont hear or feel a difference. As a general rule of thumb (very general) on an 4cyl figure 2-5 hp maybe. On a 6 maybe 5-8and on and 8cyl 10-15 maybe. Ofcourse when paired with better flowing exhaust maybe the intake will add .5-1 whp more then before.

Imo get the intake if you want 1) the look; 2) the sound when flooring; 3) as much power (even if only 1hp more) you can get out of the engine without serious work.

I agree completely, they are way overpriced for 5-7hp at 6000 rpm. I'll add they don't increase mpg's either.

Kind of what I figured as I assume they got about as much power/mpg as they could out of the engine thats in it.

I dont have the mopar but i do have the volant on my 3.6. Bought it mainly to clean up the bay a bit and for the better donaldson filter. Dont really notice a power increase but it does feel like it has a bit more pep in its step. May be all in my head tho : p

I made mine. My neighbor gave me his K&N cone filter from his wrecked jeep so all I needed was a 90 and a straight pipe from the auto store. For $70 and a couple of hours fabbing up the sensor module, it looks awesome and sounds great, when getting on the gas. Any increase in mpg's? Of course not, I'm constantly getting on it to hear it, lol....
