Default Mopar front bumper and Powerplant

I finally pulled the trigger and got the Mopar bumper, skid and AEV tow hooks. It's simple, functional, and looks better than I thought.

I haven't decided on the winch yet. I've had both the Warn 9.5 XP and 9.5 Ti and liked them both. I understand the Powerplant fits but "requires some cutting" although I've not heard specifics. I can't even find the actual dimensions of that winch.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for your time.

I installed the Mopar front bumper and the Superwinch EP/EPi9.0 with wireless remote and synthetic rope. Fits like a glove and still has enough room the remove the grill.

OK, I took some pictures.

The AEV tow loops fit well. Now I just need to find out how high the Powerplant is and if it fits under the grill guard.

The bumper looks great. I would like to get one also. I have a question regarding the installation. The rock bumber has a 2" square cross bar under the winch plate that attaches to the frame rails. When the stock bumper is removed there is a lower crossmember between the frame rails right behind the plastic air dam. My question is this, when the rock bumper is installed, does the 2" sq. bar tuck up on top and flush with the front of the exsisting cross bar. If it does not mount flush with the exsisting cross bar, how much forward is it. I have RV tow brackets that might be in conflict with the 2" bar. Thank you for your help.

Wolverine,

The Mopar bumper is pretty nifty in how it mounts. The bar you describe actually has hooks that mount over a bolt on the inside of the frame and above the existing bar already attached to the frame. This take a lot of the stress off the front bolts when the winch is pulling.

The AEV tow bracket that I've installed are probably just like the Mopar. They attach to the outside and the front of the frame. I hope that helps.

I'm going to 4 Wheel Parts tomorrow and measure a Powerplant. I'm surprised that Warn does not have the dimensions on their site like all the other winches.

The bar you discribe with the hooks that is on the rock bumper, is the bar I was refering to. With your bumper installed can you tell me if this bar (with the hooks) is flush with the front of the existing bar below it that is attached to the frame that you refered to.

Thank you,
Stewart

I can help with that. It appears to be the same distance back, if that's what you mean by being flush, except it sits about 2 inches higher than the frame cross member. The bar on the bumper is part of the winch mounting plate.

Thank you for responding. So the bar is no farther forward than the exsisting cross rail below it? Is the bottom of the rock bumper bar 2 inches higher than the top of the exsisting cross member? Also, there are two holes that go through the frame rails. Which hole does the rock bumper bar bolt to, the upper or lower hole? These may seem like odd questions but I have roadmaster tow brackets on the front of my Rubi and I am not sure if they will conflict with the installation of the rock bumper.

Thanks,
Stewart
