Default Mopar Mud Guards

Installed these on my Dk. Charcoal Pearl 2010 Rubicon Unlimited today. I didn't want to but I wanted to keep from spraying the sides of the JK with Snow, Salt, Dirt, Mud and whatever. I didn't think I'd like it but actually I don't think it looks too bad. Install was easy and straight forward. Only problem was one screw on each side of the rear had to go in crooked unless I wanted to jack it up and remove the rear tires. I also recently removed the OEM Rock Rails for the Sport/Sahara so my pregnant wife could get in and out easier and so I could easily access my Yakima Snow Board rack. Tell me what you guys think, thanks!

Since you are looking for opinions.

Personally, they do not belong on a jeep. If you dont plan to take it off-road the guards should be fine.

If you do plan on taking it out wheeling my suggestion would be to remove them along with the sidesteps. Once you are done wheeling you should put them back on.

Once the baby comes and my wife is comfortable getting in and out of the Jeep without the Steps, they'll come off and I'll either reinstall the OEM Rock Rails or get the Mopar Extended Rock Rails. While I am not a fan of the Mud Guards myself, they are useful. I thought about just installing the Fronts but thought that would look worse then doing the whole set. My Jeep is not a Mall Crawler but it will not be doing any serious offroading. I will a few times a year but other than that mostly heavy snow in Michigan Winters.

I've got the Mopar front mud guards on my '09 Rubi. They work great in the winter to keep all the slush and crap off the door handles and it only takes about 5 minutes a side to take them off in the summer.

Understood.

Living in AZ I cannot relate to the snow but it makes perfect sense.

Wish I had mud guards on mine. First week with my Rubicon heading out to Death Valley, ended up with a couple paint chips on the door hinges.

i have them on my 09. i luv them, no more rocks being thrown against the paint job thx to rubi tires.
when i go krawlin the fold up against the body when in contact with the rocks and after i clear them it pops right back into place like nothing ever happened.
also made keeping mud of of jeep alot easier.
i like playing in mud-i dont like cleaning it off. these are great.

Had some on my first JK "X" 2007, liked them, they do flex on the rocks, but a real vertical streght hit getting down a rock almost ripped my fender... and honestly, people with other Jeeps looked at me funny... Now I don't have any on my Rubicon and they would not help much anyway since the 35" tire are 12.5" wide... I personally associate mud flaps with mall crawler, but I can understand it in the winter time to save the hinges...
