Default Mopar Offroad Bumper Issues

I didn't check the boxes until I got home and found no instructions or hardware with the front bumper.

I'm guessing the plastic crush can covers install with speed nuts clipped to the plastic and bolt through the bumper. My big question is regarding the hook-like slots at the back of the winch mount area located on either side. Looks like you're supposed to bolt into the frame.

Any insight would be appreciated.

yes there are bolts that go into frame from the hook like things there is also spacers (washers) that go between the hook things and the frame so that they are not torqued or twisted.
I'm sure some one has instructions still, i don't the wind took them.

I re-used the hooks with the studs, washer/plates on the back side of the frame flange, and the original nuts. I can pick up some speed nut clips and small bolts to install the covers - just wondering if I'm missing anything important.

Also, I did a separate post on the issue of excessive nose-down rake that I now have with the extra weight. Looking for the "right" lift to correct that problem and give me a little more lift.

I have that bumper with an 8k winch in it. You are not missing anything important ( other than instructions and hardware ) I droop about .25" because of the bumper and winch. Most kits level the JK since they are nose down anyway. How much lift are you looking for?

I'm looking at either OME or Teraflex, just 2-3" - I drive the JK for work and play so I can't get too radical. I'll probably run the 32's and then replace with 33's. Once I retire it I may re-gear and go to 35's but that's 4-5 years from now.

How do you like the Teraflex? Think it would look goofy running 32" or 33"?

On the bumper: the only bolts holding it in place are the 4 in each hook plate. I'm wondering if the slots at the back of the winch platform are supposed to bolt into the frame. Also, do you remember what type of fasteners were used to attach the plastic can covers?

With a winch mounted do you use the plastic cover plate that used to sit between the stock bumper and grill?

I sent you a pm....but I forgot to mention like some one said above...
There were washers that go between the hooks and the frame to take up the gap and adjust for side to side.

Try this. I saved it when I was thinking of getting that bumper.
Hope it works.

Regarding the washer plates on the backside of the frame - My Jeep didn't have any? So I'm assuming they aren't needed.

anyone else with this issue?

Cheers

Could D rings be mounted on this instead of the tow hooks?
