Default mopar rear bumper issue

I have a mopar offroad bumper (pn#82211718) this version will allow you to run the optional tire carrier. there is this tab that sticks up to i assume lock the carrier when shut. anywho

I parked off camber a few weeks ago and it scraped some paint off the bottom of my tailgate,, not cool. I hadnt really noticed how tight the gap was till that moment. its like .03 to .04 of an inch.

The dealer said that it most likely from my off road wheel spare being too heavy and sagging the gate but hell its has the stock sra tire how heavy could it be.

does anyone out there have this bumper installed and do you have the same issue?

I had the same issue with my tailgate scraping on a bolt everytime I opened/closed it. I ground the head down on the bolt... if your never going to use that tab grind it off, or grind a small notch out of your tailgate. You won't see either, and no one will ever no the difference...

I also have that issue, but not all the time. For whatever reason, the weather effects it and sometimes it rubs and sometimes it doesn't.

Can you losen the bolts on the bumper and lower it a bit? It might also sag the bumper a slight bit if you get the tire carrier on the bumper so maybe a good excuse for an upgrade

yea since its all new and dealer installed i have refrained from taking matters into my own hands.
option a is to have the dealer slot the mounting holes and translate the whole bumper down.
option b is for me to grind it off or down and touch it up with rustolium
option c is to get a new one but it is a new one.

talked with a mechanic at a local chop shop and he siad the only way out of it with out a grinding wheel is to get the optional tire carrier($500) to get all the weight off the tailgate. it would be an easy decision if it wasnt 500 bucks

Did you try loosening the tailgate hinge bolts and move the tailgate up a bit to clear the bumper? I had to do this after installing my Shrockworks bumper.
