Mopar Safari Bikini Vs Bestop..??
Hello, anyone with info on the safari tops would be appreciated.. I ordered a Bestop safari from 4wheeldrive and still hasn't arrived yet.. But got to looking at others, and found that the "MOPAR" one might actually be better.. (for us soft top people)
The Mopar one appears to have better side rail inserts for using with the soft top door plastic's.. front and rear.. OR WITHOUT THE REAR PLASTICS !!
To me, that seems to be a better version than the Bestop.. BUT,, having not see either one of them.. I cannot make a good decision about which one is better.. However.. I can get a MOPAR one this week.. The Bestop is still in limbo land..!!
Any info ..anyone..?? thanks....

I could be wrong (or fooled by good advertising) but on page 19 of the 4Wheel Drive 2007 summer catalog under " Tops: Benefits&Features:" for Bestop, it says "Built by the company that builds the factory-original top". I say save yourself some cabbage.
Thanks for that.. the oem top costs $225.00 and I ordered the Bestop for about 149.00.. On your cia, I have the aem, and love it.. no oil to attract dust and you never have to replace the element.. and no whistling...
Bestop one comes with plastic "side rail inserts" to use with plastic door frame. But when I use it with this set up, it makes very loud flapping noise... hitting the middle roll bar (where the overhead speakers are)...even with 45 mph. The noise is so loud that I have to shove in the t-shirt etc. in between.
The flapping is minimum (doesn't make loud flapping noise) when I attatch the bikini top on roll bar (use the velcro strips)... even on freeway over 70 mph.
I only use the bikini top when it rains or looks like it's going to rain when the doors off or with half tube doors so I usually attatch it to the roll bar. If you intend to use the bikini top attatch to the door frame (with full doors on), I wouldn't recommend Bestop one... because of the flapping noise.

I have that catalog.. Well maybe not the same as yours because I looked all over page 19 for that information.. but couldn't find it.. IN fact I have 2 versions of the 4wheel drive summer cataolg, Page 19 is the same in both.. No mention of Bestop being the oem manufacturer...

Just installed mine over the weekend. It has both options for door rails and without - flaps like crazy - see my post in the Write-Ups on how to fix it for $1.19. Its soft top heaven now - at any speed.
By the way, I walked in to my local 4wheelparts store and they had this on the shelf.... Look around. Maybe someone else locally has it near you.
Best,
Steve
