Mopar Slush Mats Problem
I had the doors and top off today and stopped by the dealer to pick up my slush mats. The front ones fit well and hook into the plastic mat retaining piece. The rear mat has nothing to hold it in. If my passenger was not holding it in, the rear mat would have blown out on the interstate.
Just thought I would pass the info along.....

I am surprised. I have to say I haven't driven with the top off yet, but I have the Mopar slush mats and they seem heavy enough (even the unsecured back ones) to not go flying out. If what you say is true we need to come up with a mod!
Interesting, i never would have even considered that could have been a problem. I have the mopar slush mats that look like tires running through mud, not sure if you have the same ones or if thats the only ones or what, but mne seem pretty well in there considering the back is one long rather heavy piece that tucks around the front bracketry. But, if this does prove to be and issue, i'll prolly buy some of those metal chip clip things that you magnet to the fridge... or something similar but all black and prolly from home depot so they're extra strong, then i'll just bolt them to the floor on right under the door sills so i can clamp the mats down to the floor... sounds like it will work, but i guess i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.

I have the mopar slush mats and haven't had a problem on the freeways going 75-80 in a 75mph zone. They are way better than the husky mats! And they fit perfectly, because they are formed for the JK. I am so stoked by the way they look and perform!
If you have a problem with them flying around with the doors off, you might try shifting them a little around the seat brackets. Or get some heavy-duty velcro called X-treme Velcro. That stuff can hold up to 100lbs and the sticky side can even be placed on carpet, stone, brick, wood, etc...

I have the mopar slush mats (tire tread design) in my 4 door and haven't had a problem.
But that is probably because i use my mats when there is slush, in the winter, and it is much too cold to have the doors off then.
i plan on taking them out once the weather warms up, up here in canada. It doesn't look like they would be useful for anything other than slush and snow anyway.
Even if i didn't, I think hurstrescue was saying that the rear mat would fly out when the doors are off. probably because the wind in coming in over the door sill and getting under the matI think they should be pretty secure with just the top off and doors on.
The problem with the husky liners, at least from what i can see, is that they don't have deep grooves like real slush mats do. The grooves are needed in snowy conditions to capture the melted snow from your boots, and at the same time hold your pants out of the water.
the husky liners though should be great for mud, sand or other dirt
