Default Mopar Sunbonnet Header Fit

I recently installed a Mopar Sunbonnet to our 4Dr 2010 JK. I got the 2007 - 09 Soft top version along with the door surrounds for the 2007 - 09. Everything went together fine. I just want to make sure the fit of the header is correct. When the header is clamped down it still seems like material/ header has a gap between the window molding and the sunbonnet top (see attached photo). I get a whistle sound the faster I drive but I can NOT feel any air getting between the top and the windshield molding.

Is the gap normal?

Should the sunbonnet fit tight to the windshield molding with no gap?

Thanks for any advice.

Check out TSB 23-010-09 Wind Sound at Header - the new JKs now have a nice steel Seal Header Plate instead of the plastic one that warps and that came on the 07-08's (and apparently also in the aftermarket Mopar Sunbonnet top). I had my plastic header plate replaced by our local Jeep dealer under warranty just last week.

By the way, the gap is not good and should not be there.

Mine fits like that sometimes, sometimes its flatter, sometimes more bowed. Depends on the weather and temp and speed of driving. Mine doesn't leak up front, so I dont give a crap about the wind noise. It's a bikini top anyway. Cheap ass plastic header, expensive top.

I just placed an order for the sun bonnet at the dealership and I am curious about this steel plate that you are speaking of ? I also was com=nsidering getting that visor thing that went on the top of the windsheild to stop the whisteling too. Any one where to get this item ? Or even any experience with it ? Once again what is the story about this steel plate ?

I bought an 07 soft top on craigslist for my 08 2 door. That header sags when you clamp it on preventing the top from snugging up. I had actually thought about making my own steel plate to rivet to the plastic.

I have the sunbonnet with the header for my 08 too. It is much sturdier but it still does not seal very well. Same issue to a degree.
