Default More Power?

What is a good cheap way to get some more power out of the 3.8? I have an 08 Sahara Unlimited. I know it's no sportscar but it would be nice if it had a little more power on the highway. Thanks.

are you still stock or are you running larger tires? if you are running larger tires, regear to something higher and you will feel a nice boost in power. if you are running 35's, get a set of 5.13's

A Cold Air Intake will wake it up. I have the AirAid which I swear by. i also have the Magnaflow performance muffler and the Jett stage II chip, which I was not really impressed with (except the sound).

Also, these engines take several thousand miles to come to life. Something about the comuter learning your driving or something...

I love the CAI. Highly recomend.

I re-geared to 4.56 with stock 32" tires, huge difference. Dont waste your money on programmers, cold air intakes & cat backs. Re-gear or save up for a supercharger.

What is the cost to regear? If it makes that big a difference I might look into it.

It takes a few thousand miles for the computer to catch up; once it does, your JK will take off better. I am running 35's on the stock 4.10 gears and noticed decent performance increases from a CAI & cat-back exhaust (and a bit of a mpg improvement).

A CAI & exhaust combo will get you maybe 10 - 15 hp for about $400 + (depending on what kind of a deal you can get on each). The re-gear on my old TJ ran a little over $2k (can't imagine it would be less expensive on a JK) and I noticed a dramatic performance increase. A supercharger is going to be about $5k for the kit.

I would give the CAI/exhaust combo a whirl first; if it does not get you where you want to be, go with the re-gear.

I am running 33's with 3.73's now and don't wan't to regear. I wish there was someting like the programer I put in my 02 Dodge Cummins that gave me 80 horse for less than $500.00
