Default More travel

I am currently running a RK 2.5" Max travel with fox shocks, smitty bilt flat fenders (xrc flares),and 35's. At full bump ( shocks fully compressed) in the front the tires barely touch the body, I have no added bump stop front or rear, in the rear it gets real close but never actually touches anything,I want to move to 37's So I know I will have to add some bump stop to keep the tires out of the body, so obviously I am losing a little bit of travel buy doing that, I would like to add more travel to it which would obviously have to be down travel, would I be safe just changing shocks to longer ones? Or is there something else I need to change?

Adding shocks should give you more down travel, but then you need to worry about unseating your springs. So limiting or retaining straps should be added to the list. Also, adding more droop will put more strain on your DS when fully flexed, so if you haven't replaced that you might need to.

Then just prepare for the added stress of 37s.

I'm not worried about the added stress from the 37's right now. Obviously it's in the back of my mind but I don't really care. At full droop the springs are seated firmly still currently, I think I actually still have a couple inches of room before I have to worry about them unseating
And front driveshaft is a Reel that is about 6 months old

Depending on length may need to modify lower shock bracket to keep shock off the frame.

I have an RK 2.5 with 35's. I am running the Fox 2.0 shocks made for a 4"-6" lift. I used these to make sure the shocks would clear (even though Fox as the tube at the top)

I bolted and then welded them in. It is a nice combination and really gives me some great travel.

Please don't get shocks by lift height... It makes no sense.

its also decreases uptravel as the body of the shock will be longer....limiting up travel...say hello to blown out shocks regularly.

3" lift wiht bilstein shocks....

shocks have 12" of travel. my springs unseat in the front and rear at max flex and i hve about 2.5" of uptravel...NOT IDEAL. but looks ****in cool

Larger tires when nothing else changes will also decrease uptravel requiring more bump as he said hence him getting new shocks, which most likely will have a longer body as he needs... If he measures what shocks are needed for his exact set up an tires hell be fine. Coil unseating isnt ideal, but can still help in some ways from my experience. Also limit straps are good on any set up to save shocks, not just to keep coils seated or held driveshaft bind..

As noted, make sure with the linger shocks that you set bump stops so that they don't over compress. You do not want the shock being the bump stop.

I don't know about the RK coils, but my metalcloak coils had a ton of travel. Fronts could go over 13" compressed to extended (over 14" with a safe amount of unseating). I suspect the RK coils can handle all the shock you want to throw at them if set up correctly.

It is 100% possible to run 37s and not lose travel, you just have to make the adjustments. There are numerous options to adjust the shock mounts. If you are not compressing the coil all the way, but over extend it, you can add a small spacer to move the coil down. Etc.

MOAR travel!
