Default mountain hwy driving with 35s|4.10 combo vs 32s

So I got the RPM chart, I'm doing about 2500 RPMs at 70, but if I were to switch to 35s, it'd drop down to around 2300.

Now the future wife's family lives up in Michigan, very flat up there, and pretty flat here in MD, but on the trips there, there are quite a few mtns, same for if I drive to my parents in Southwestern VA.

Granted the RPMs would be lower, but to turn those 35s it'd require more HP? And going up a hill, I'd need more power too vs. flat land.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I go 35s, and then have to go through the mnts, will the jeep be constantly downshifting to go up the hills? I like to set the CC and go when I'm on those trips.

On 35s you'll definitely be down-shifting quite a few times.

I have the same setup and also love on the mountains. Sixth gear is useless. And you will have to downshift more. Bit I find the power more than sufficient.

No ,it aint too bad. You already know the routes so its not like The blind leading the blind. Sounds like fun though.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll get them, because up there the speed limits are like 75. Usually do 80 in her car. Doing 80 in the jeep... those RPMs are well outside the green zone

at 80 mph with 35s I'd be at 2600 RPMs

right now with 32s I am going 73 mph at 2600 rpms.

Granted now I'll need a little more HP to push through the air at 80 now vs 73, but it's not as bad as 50 -> 100 mph. I'm sure I could guestimate it based off my 73 mph avg mpg. * some percentage loss.
