Default Mounted Maglight and Sirius Plug N Play

I'm slowly moving things from my old CJ-7 to the new Unlimited. Today I polished up the old Litegrip and mounted it on the driver's seat frame. I had to use two large nuts at spacers to get the knob back on because without them the Litegrip sits too close to the seat padding. It's still tight so I may just flip the mount over so the screw knob is on the bottom.

I also have Mapgear's fire extingrisher but need to find a place to mount it away from the kids fingers...
I also moved my Sirius Satelite radio from my commuter to the JK. I put the antenna on the hood to get a better ground plane (see it behind the windshield spray nozzles). We'll see how it works. Running the wires was super easy. The antenna was run behind the hood hinge, through the right side of the cowl. There's a nice path above the stock radio antenna that comes out in the front door jam above the door hinges . Then the wire was run infront of the dash. The 12 volt feed was wedged between the gray upright of the dash tower and the radio/heater control panel. It's visible down by the switched 12 volt plug but I'll eventually wire it into the harness. If I don't get good reception, I'll consider getting a non-magnetic antenna for truckers, or boats. They don't need a ground plane to work. Here are two pics of the install. I'm hoping hoping to get a replacement dash top that has a nice place to mount the sirius and get rid of the suction cup mount for my birthday (it's on my list) .

Seems like alot of people use maglights. I'm a surefire flashlight guy personally.... the beam it puts out is just sooo much brighter and focused then the maglights and its about the size of your palm so i just throw it in the center console.

Good point. I like the Mags because they're big and last most of the night. I engraved my name on this one because after spending literally 6 hours in the dark on Sledgehammer for my buddy to fix his Dana 30 we all started mixing the lights up. I do keep an LED headlamp and AA size LED Maglight in the Jeep as well. How long does your Surefire batteries last?

You can also get the LED to replace your maglight bulb. They're a lot brighter.

I put the satellite antenna on the roll bar, great reception and out of sight.

Sorry for the late response. It matters on the type of bulb you decide to use and if you buy the incandescent or led bulbs. But for the reg incandescent its about 1hr on a lithium ion battery that you buy from them or 20 min if you get the double powered bulb. The led bulbs last 12hrs though they cost almost double the price. The light output on the lowest model is VERY bright and basically dwarfs any maglite. Its designed for military tactical forces... They have a whole bunch of information on the surefire website.

don't forget that there's a big price difference between maglite and surefire. both the light and batteries. i only use my surefire when i absolutely have to because batteries are expensive. i keep my surefire light on me or my backpack because there's no way i'm gonna let a $100+ flashlight get lost or walkoff. my maglite, i just leave in the jeep because they're cheap enough to replace pretty easily.

Yea the batteries are about $2 each so it is kinda expensive. But the good thing about the surefire flashlights are that it will probably be the last flashlight you will ever need to buy since they're built to withstand anything.
