Default Move Rear Axel Back a Little

Does it look like the rear axel needs to be moved back a little. I just installed an OME HD 2-door lift. It has adj. f/r track bars and I am getting adj. front LCA's soon. Nothing changed on rear.

No looks great! May want to trim the oinch seam once you flex it though.

It wouldn't hurt to center the axle, but it doesn't look too bad. You might want to check the rear pinion/driveshaft angles, though. 3+" on a 2door sets the short rear driveshaft pretty steep. Even if you don't get both sets of rear ca's to move the axle, it wouldn't be a bad idea to budget for the uppers.

On the Rubi you might hit the Rock Rail before you do the pinch seam. However, with 285-75-17 tires you'll probably be OK.

Go flex it to the max and see what hits. If nothing else you should get a good photo-op out of it!

Thanks. So, with my TJ Rubi I had an aftermarket rear drive shaft and it was roughly parallel with the rear pinion (I think 5-6 degrees low). What are you saying for this setup? Should the pinion and the X-fer be roughly parallel - or, should the pinion and the drive shaft be roughly parallel?

Stock shafts - you want the pinion and tcase output to be roughly parallel.
Double Cardans - you want the pinion pointed up at the tcase output.

Up front, you have the caster vs pinion angle issue, of course.
And in back, because of the short length and steep angles, some folks like to adjust the pinion in the hopes of making those joints last longer. Just take a look and see what you think.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Now that I think about it a little more I'm sure the rear will 'sink' a little more when the back seat and hardtop go back in later in the year. That will bring the lift down to a managable number.
