Muffler tips and performance
I installed a Gibson cat-back a couple of weeks back. It comes with a 3.5" stainless tip. It is angle cut and straight. I'm a sucker for stainless muffler tips but this thing is going to get crunched the first time I wheel it.. So I took it off while I look for some sort of suitable replacement..
What I noticed is that the sound coming from the muffler quieted down substantially after taking the tip off. I had no clue that a tip would influence the sound.. It didn't seem to change how it drove though. Now I'm wondering if different tips would influence the power gains from a cat-back..
Any comments??

im pretty sure it wouldnt make a difference in anything but sound. they are called resonator tips or something like that. all they do is resonate to change the tone. its not restricting or opening anything up by switching them out. i might be wrong though so feel free to jump all over me
