Default IS IT A MUST ??? C gussets/ball joints

Is it a must to remove the ball joints when welding upper and lower C gussets ??? Or can you get away with leaving them in?
Thx

I left them in when I did mine but I also drug it out about 3hrs to alow for the C to stay cool. Just take your time, and hop from side to side.

I kept a damp rag handy to cool the joints and kept a thermometer on the joint to keep an eye on the temp due to the nearby welding. Everything worked out fine but it did take a little longer probably.

Best advice I heard..... Remove them! The stock ball joints are weak anyways, so the "try and becareful" approach is highly risky. When I do mine in a month or so, im replacing my ball joints with earl's or another aftermarket brand. The guy im going to removes them anyways before he welds the gussets in, so I'm just going to have him install new ball joints when he does it. I got a good price too! < $60.
