Default My best top bikini/windjammer/deck cover review

SO where to start on this one. I will get the main points out of the way first. After reading everyone else's reviews on this top I decided to take some pre install measures to aid my install. When I got everything in I took it out of the box and drapped it over the furniture in my living room to get the folds and wrinkles out. The day of the install I turned my heat up and set the parts near it to warm them up and make them more pliable. This top is still mildly difficult to install. The stretching of the material to get it in place is difficult but not impossible. You need to use the loops to stretch the material out. Once I got everything installed these are my thoughts. JC Whitney sent me a tailgate bar for a "97 and newer" jeep. This doesnt include the JK so I am waiting to talk to best top and see if there is something I am missing so I can attach the end of the deck cover over the tail gate.

1. If I was over 6ft. tall I would not buy this top/deck combo. It limits the amount you may put the seat back, hence making it a tight squeeze in the leg room area.

2. Don't attempt to install this by yourself the first time. Even after all i did to stretch the material out before i attempted to put it on it was still difficult.

3. There are some gaps that this top leaves near the doors and towards the top of the win jammer. here are some pics.

over all look

what did everyone else do to fix this gaps. I figure the wind jammer will stretch a bit and the gap wont be so big. I saw some pics on here of someone who had additional fabric added by someone who does some stuff with boating material but i cant remember who. That seems like it would be expensive. Today i think I may try to use some pipe insulation and fill those gaps a bit attaching it with velcro straps. Any thoughts?

I know I have said this before but I have the combo myself and here are my opinons

windjammer= I am 6ft 1 and do not like having to sit at a 90 degree angle, the jammer is not designed to cover the entire area so if you are looking for weather proofing put your hardtop or soft top back on, it's made for what it is named.... windjammer

bikini = it blocks the sun and light rain, it helps to have the door frames and connect it to the channels around the top as opposed to strapping it to the roll bar, it flaps a little but hey so do sails on a sailboat, tighten your straps down after the first application and also when it is hot

duster cover = love it no complaints at all, stretch it prior to install as some folks here have dimpled the body near their beltrail.

gaps= only the top of the windjammer has a 1 to 2 inch gap between the soudbar and jammer when installed. If you have the door frames installed you will have only the distance between your rollbar and doors (if on) to deal with..

as far as the windjammr goes, bestop makes a wraparound jammer that fits tight and doesnt allow water in.

Im pretty sure you need to get the door surrounds that come on a soft top jeep to close up those other gaps

Default yeah

i have the hard top.. so i didnt have those.. I am working on a quick fix now to narrow the gaps until i can get the rails for the doors. i wil post pics when i am done. As far as the biki, I have the sound bar cover and that seems to have eliminated the flapping. i havent taken it out on the high way just yet, but i have had it up to about 50 in town here and have heard a sound from it.

Default Welcome

youre very welcome. People would mention things here and there but never go all the way through the process. I like it. I jut took it off for the day and put it back on and it goes on ALOT easier the second time around. I would go with the wrap around Windjammer if you are going to get this set up. You need the sound bar cap for that too. Think you are still going to go with this set up?
