Default My JK Build Thread

So I have had my JKU Sahara for a few months now. I got it on May 31st, and could tell right away that I was going to be changing things up a bit. I have named him Morpheus after the awesome character from the matrix, I know... NERD!! I wanted to post on this forum about my build progress. It is going to take a very long time for me to get to where I want to be, but that is all part of the fun. I am a youth pastor so I do not make a ton of money, but I have plans to finish this build before the end of 2015. HA! Can't wait.

I love the way it looks, but it has a lot of growing up to do. I traded in my 2005 Acura RSX for it... definitely a huge difference, but I had that car since I was 17, and I am now 26... I was ready for a change.

I have a lot of plans for the JKU already. I have done a lot of research in the weeks leading up to purchasing it, and in the past few months since I got it. I hope it turns out the way I picture it in my head. Here is a list of some things that I plan on getting, and I have broken them up into three different categories. Engine Performance, Suspension, and Cosmetic/Misc.

Engine Performance. (I know the 3.6L V6 has a good deal of power, but it couldn't hurt to have extra power and possibly better MPG)
-Mopar Cold Air Intake
-Rugged Ridge Dual Exhaust
-Unichip

Suspension.
-Spidertrax 1.5" Wheel Spacers
-Teraflex 2.5" Lift Kit w/ Shocks
-Teraflex Monster Front Track Bar
-35x12.50r18 Federal Couragia M/T (Woot)

Cosmetic/Misc.
-MBRP Light Bar
-OR Fab Vacuum Pump Relocation Kit
-KC light bar lights
-Teraflex HD hinged Carrier
-Teraflex Adjustable Tire Mount
-Mopar Gas Cap Cover

I like the look of the matching fender flares, and I also am fond of the stock Sahara rims... So I am planning on keeping those, hence the spacers. However, the main reason I am starting this thread is so I can get some feed back on what y'all think. I know it is my jeep and my money so I can do what I want, but opinions could lead me to understand my choices better or change my mind. So any advice/criticism/opinions/comments are welcome.

2013 miles on a 2013!!

I like to go to easier trails on weekends, but I am eager to get into more advanced crawling. If you subscribe I will try and keep y'all updated as much as possible. Keep in mind though... I probably will not be done for a couple years.

Default A little action so far

Okay so now that I got the original post up, I can start on the couple things I have done so far. Just a couple simple ones, but a good start.

Put the Mopar Cold Air Intake on in about 35 minutes. Love the look, and the slight growl it gets at about 3000 RPMs. If it gives it more power, then it has to be a little... but the MPG went up to over 21. BYAH!!

My Father-in-Law Bought me the Mopar Gas Cap Cover. Looks great and takes away that gap that seems too open IMO. I like the way it looks and only took about 10 minutes.

I know... small steps so far, but I had to start somewhere right? I hope y'all like it so far, but there's a long way to go still. I'm super excited. I am thinking about the MBRP light bar next, but to do that I need to get the Vacuum Relocation Kit so that I can install it. I do plan on putting everything on myself. The only thing I do not have the ability to do, is putting tires on the actual rims. Ill just take them over to a buddy of mine that works at discount tire for that.

I took off my rear sahara silver bumper cover. Liked the way it looked before. Love the way it looks now. I think I'll keep the front one on for now though.

I plan on getting the MBRP light bar next and wheel spacers. Also I think I might add some more mods to my wish list. Sigh... It's never gonna end is it?

Yeah... Water issues have not happened yet but I've been thinking about that a lot. If I ever wheel more extreme I'm pretty sure it'll be snorkeled. Thanks.
