I'm a long time lurker on this forum and rarely post but I'll give my two cents on this.

i got my 09 3.8 JKU Sahara from my parents after they owned it for a year 1 1/2 and 22K because they moved up to a 2011 5.7 GC. I drove it bone stock till 63K and slapped some new 275/65/18 Duratrac's on it which are a 1/2 inch wider then stock but still a "32" inch tire and it sucked even more. People that tell you you can roll around on 33's let alone 35's without re-gearing are kidding themselves. With the stock tires the thing downshifts on the highway and the slightest hill at 65-70mph and it only got worse when I went with tires a half inch wider tires. It was a joke, and I didn't come from speed. Before the JK I had a 01 ML320 with 240K and a Explorer that I got rid of with a 113K for the JK. I drove it for till about 80K and then got a superchip and I was hating myself for not getting it 4 years earlier, it was awesome.

First I will say don't expect much, but what you do get makes the JK actually drivable. I use the 91 tow tune with 87 and it helps the jeep feel a lot less sluggish. The jeep feels like it lost weight is the best way to describe it. On the highway the thing now does 80 with no problem where it used to struggle to do 70 stock. At slower speeds the jeep is much smoother while accelerating as the dead spots have been smoothed out mainly from the improved shift programming and throttle mapping. I will say that the tow tune can be a little too aggressive in parking lots with the occasional jerk if you get on and off the throttle, if this bothers you I would stick with the 87 tune. If you have 33's or 35's this will most likely not be an issue.

The JK with the 3.8 is always going to be a dog but with a superchip it makes it much better, it should have came tuned like this from the factory. Instead it came tuned to get the most out of EPA testing which resulted in horrible dead spots and an even worse daily driver.

If you have a 3.8 I would say get it. I use mine every day as a data logger to monitor my RPM(switch this sometimes), exhaust temp, trans temp and engine temp which is a bonus if you are interested in that. It logs many other engine permitters as well if you choose to display them, you can show 4 at once.

I was on the fence but I decided to try it. I have a 07 6 speed 35s and 3.21 gears. First I tried just the 87 tune stock pedal and stock tire ratio and I noticed a nice difference. I then tweaked the pedal and adjust for the tires and very nice I must say. I just filled up with 93 and I'm running that tune now. It has a lot more pick up and. Balls. 85 on the highway cruising no problem.
I would recommend it. But shop around on this forum first you can pick one up for around $250. Sure beats the $350 and helps some one else out

Just got done installing mine. I went with the 87 tune for now. Did you manually set up the shift points or does the 87 tune automatically change them?

Another question for anyone who has one. Has anyone tried the xs gas saver tune? Have a road trip coming up so i thought bout trying it but was wondering if anyone has tried it and get their impressions.

The 87 tune automatically changes them. I didn't mess with adjusting shift points or any of that.

Just a heads up to you guys running this tuner, you can run the 93 tune with 87 and I have for 3 years now and never had any engine pinging etc. I get better MPG with the 93 tune over any of the others, I have a 4 door, 5.13's on 37" toyos, full armor, bumpers, winch and 6" teraflex lift and average 17.4 at 75/80mph on the interstate here in TN, and its by far not flat. Slower rural hwy speeds it even further increased to mid 18's to sometimes 19's depending on how constant it is. City driving is 16.8 or so with excessive stop in go traffic in Nashville etc. I run a sprint booster on mine as well that really really helps with throttle response etc. I can select it to be off and romp down on the throttle to take off and while doing so push the button to turn in on and you instantly feel a seat of the pants pickup, it really surprised me.

Default Crawl tune

Right off the bat I know it's for use with 4low but after I put the tube right away I noticed the Jeep had 0 power in 2wheel drive then I thought OK might be really nice in 4low so when I went in to 4low I could still feel it being sluggish, then I thought maybe it will show its colors if I'm going up a steep hill I got to a set hill and my jeep was revival in to the 4k range I shifted to 2nd gear and in the middle of the dam hill it was strugging to keep rpms and I stalled I reset my jeep and started to climb in first gear at this point I was on a really big climb then it stalled on me in first gear.

The first chance I got I reset my jeep to the 87 eco tune and every thing was back to normal climbed that hill again in 3rd gear with no problems.

Another thing I have noticed about the flashpaq was I tied the Rev limiter when I came to air up and the Jeep won't hold the revs up when I higher the rpms the Jeep starts to Rev up then it drops down to idle so I'm not sure why my jeep does this any one have any problems with this setting
I've had my superchips for about three years on my 2010 JKU automatic. I tried several tunes and the 87 tune seemed to me to give a good boost on regular fuel so that's what I run. The crawl tune is for rock crawling and slows the throttle response for that purpose. I too tried it on some hills and it doesn't work for that. It seems to limit your RPM in addition to slowing the throttle. I've used it on a rock crawling type trail and it's a benefit there as it smooths the throttle response. I was running 33s with stock 3.73 gears until recently and the 87 tune helped a lot in my view. I'm now running rubi axles and 35s with 5.13 gears and am really quite satisfied with the performance of the 3.8 with the superchips tune and geared for the larger tires. I had been thinking of upgrading to a newer JK with the 3.6 prior to the axle swap so I tried a few at my local dealer. Frankly I couldn't see a big difference between the new engine and mine with the 87 octane tune. I having tried the data logging feature, but will probably mess around with that after reading this thread.

Pretty annoyed atm. I switched from the 87 tune to the gas saving tune and it jacked up the tpms system again. It's showing up the 0 psi warning and sometimes it'll say check tpms. Has anyone been able to get rid of this without putting stock wheels with tpms on to disable it again? I'm gonna be giving Superchips a call...

Did you leave it on the gas saver tune? Wondering how it compares to the 87 tune.

Have ran a couple of tanks of gas thru the wifes jeep. 2011 jku sahara. All stock on the 87 tune gained a solid 1.5 mpg with in town driving. Have a big road trip this week. So hoping its gets a lil bit better with more highway driving. Was thinking of trying the gas saver but so far pleased with the 87 tune.

Yes I left the mileage xs tune. So far I'm about 1/2 a tank into it, and it's doing worse than the 87 tune for me. I've only been doing city driving. It might do better on the highway. I notice that it likes to up-shift asap to keep the revs low. I don't think it's ideal for city driving. As soon as I'm done with this tank of gas I'll be going back to 87 tune, and then I'll try the 91 tune when I switch to full synthetic oil. (you don't have to go full synthetic for it, just something I want to do)

Started our 3500 mile round trip trip today. I gotta say 60 mph is the sweet spot for the 3.8 and the 87 tune. Around town before we left I was getting 1.5 mpg over the stock tune. Not bad I will take it. Usually get 275-300 miles to a tank on stock tune. First 2 tanks on the trip I got 325 and 340 doing 80 on the freeway. Filled up for the 3rd time and had an entire stretch of 60 mph 2 lane country roads. Got 425 miles to that tank. So stoked. So glad I did this. Wish i would have done it alot sooner. Might end up saving the entire cost of the tuner in gas savings over the trip.
