Default Narrowed down exhaust - Opinions/Recommendations

I have narrowed down the exhaust system that I think I may go with. I was wondering if anyone has had these particular units what your thoughts are on them.

I know that it doesn't provide much of any power gains and that it is more of a sound thing. I also understand that it is not going to sound like a V8.

For example....
  • Does it drone?
  • Does it have a nice lower tone at idle?
  • Does it "pop" or "crackle"? Not looking for this sound.
  • Is it a nice lower, meaner sound or does it sound high pitch and "ricer"?

Here are the units I am looking:
  • Magnaflow #15237 "Rokcrawler" - cat back
  • aFe high tuck 2.5" mach force #49-46212 - cat back
  • aFe high tuck mach force xp 2.5" 49-46219 - axle back
  • Dynomax ultraflow 2.5" #39523 - cat back

If you have one of these units, I would love to hear your comments on them, sound bites if you have them, etc. Thanks!

Do you have the 3.8 or the new 3.6 engine?

I have a 4 door w/ the 3.8 Engine. The best deal that I found that work for me was the Borla complete exhaust System. It comes with a Resonator,Pipes and Muffler all Stainless steel. 1 million miles warranty

NO Drone
Lower Tone
Not too Loud
Not Pop nor crakle

I got it at Amazon at a great price Little more than $300.

Robot Check

Now it is at $446.05 but everyday they lower the price.

The Magnaflow I have is similar to that one. It's the 2 door one, and it turns down in front of the axle. It does have a slight drone, but it's not horrible. I can also hear it pop when I coast from 1st or 2nd gear, but I like it. It is very loud, I'd say it's mid-range as far as pitch goes, but then again my exhaust is about 2.5 feet long past the y pipe, so that kit could be completely different. It's got a nice low growl at idle, too.

On a 4-dr and over the axle, my Magnaflow has no drone and no pops.
It seems that the difference comes form the pipe length and tip position.

I figured that. I don't mind it on mine though.

There's something I noticed, which I'm not sure how to explain.
When I first installed the exhaust, the auto shifting was as I've been used to.
After a period, at slow and at crawling speed, the gearbox seems to allow a higher gear at slower rpm.
I don't know if the computer had adjusted to the lower resistance of the new Magnaflow, or my pressure on the pedal became a bit more sensitive, because I hear the engine better.

I'd guess the computer on your Jeep noticed the extra power (even if it's not much), and adjusted the shift points. I'm not real sure though, I got a manual in my Jeep. Don't know much about the auto.
