Default Need Advice!

Alright I've been given the green light by house hold 6 that on or around the 15th of Jan I can start dumping money into the Jeep. Here is my list

TeraFlex JK Tuned Fox Racing Shocks 4" - 6" Lift, Aluminum Body, Set 4
5 AEV Pintler Wheels 17x8.5 Black Wheel : 5x5 : +10mm offset
1 TeraFlex JK 2-door 4" Suspension System w/Full FlexArm System w/o Shocks
1 Coast JK 1310 Rear 2-Door Drive Shaft
1 Coast JK 1310 Front Drive Shaft
1 LoD Jeep JK Shorty Signature Series Rear Bumper w/ Generation 3 Tire Carrier

My deliema is that with all my free time I keep looking up stuff up and researching further into things. I actually had myself talked down from the 4in to the 3in lift. I would save a few dollars plus I wouldn't need to order the drive shafts saving a lot more money. Now the problem David from Northridge e-mails me back with a pretty good deal for my wish list. So I'm putting it out there what are the pro's and con's to either of these lifts? Also I don't own a Jeep yet this will be my first when I get home. I use to own a nice offroad rig but decided to sell since I was tired of next zero aftermarket support and or choices. Now it feels like I have too many choices. Also not on the is list are the tires that I will need to get which will be 35's either Toyo's, Nitto's or BFG's.

Sounds good... Not sure of your kit comes with it, but maybe look into adj trac bar. I'd also consider re-gearing depending on what your running now. Also that setup may be a bit much for 35's unless you can find a true 35" tire. Going to a 2.5" lift with flat fenders will give you the same desired look/effect a 4" lift will give you and save DS money. I'd save that money and put on some dif covers.... It is really personal preference and depends on what you want your rig for (off-road fetish so to speak)....

I personally wish I would have went with the 3" lift on my 2dr. I have 35" Toyos and bushwhacker flat fenders so I can stuff them real deep ( no pun) also have the je reel 1310 front and rear. I love my tank but if I had a do over I'd go with the 3". Now on the other hand- since you don't even have a jeep yet. Get the 4dr hands down no matter how much you tell yourself you don't need the extra space.... YOU NEED THE EXTRA SPACE!!! Lol thats why I talked my wife into getting one, so now I can build hers correctly and they way she ( I) want it....

X2 on the 4dr... I run a 3" lift on mine, but still think my 35's look small.. 37" tires look good on them and fill them out nicely..

I going to agree with these statements above. I went with a Terflex 3" Long Arm Lift. My 35s which are actually 34.4" look small with my lift. A small child could climb in my wheel well. I almost went with the 4" long arm. Glad I did not. I still have a ton of room for 37s and I will most likely never go any bigger than that.

You could always go with the TF 2.5" lift which will give you 3" which looks great with 35's

well that answers a question I had about what 35's would look like with a 4in lift. I think I'm going to get the 3in lift, I like everything I've read on it and Tera Flex has helped with a lot of my questions. As for the 2.5in lift I'm sure it looks great but I really want to take my Jeep apart and put some stuff on it. It's the best way to learn about your rig and plus I know I'd be looking into a bigger lift sooner down the road then later. I think this type of lift is a great platform to learn and build off of. How bad would it be to wait to get drive shafts since I would only be going with a 3in lift? Thanks for the advice everyone I really appreciate the help!

As for DS, you should be fine. Just monitor them for any signs of leaking or spitting grease.
