Default Need advice on a setup

Hello all,

I want to do the "winch inside the stock bumper". Would I be fine with a Smittybilt XRC8 winch, Universal mounting plate, stock battery, and stock alternator? I am comfortable with the write up on this and doing the install myself, but it didn't state anything about an extra battery or larger alternator.

TIA,

Chris

You are correct. No extra battery or high output alternator is required. However I would recommend a deep cycle battery such as an Optima, Sears platinum, etc. That's a great write up to follow too. Good luck.

Then why don't I just go with a 4500 lb winch and a snatch block?

What is your opinion of the stock wire cable versus synthetic rope?

Synthetic is
-Lighter
-Wont Snap Back IF it breaks
-Easier to move around, because its lighter

Be warned though, you have to have a different fairlead for Synthetic, and also it is a lot more vulnerable to rubbing to rocks, so watch out for that

yea its lighter on your front suspension, you dont have to use gloves...floats on water...no digging in the muddy water looking for it...stronger than wire rope...and safer as it does not build up energy so it wont kill you if it snaps off....just make sure you cover it up as the sun will degrade it over the years and it will break
