Need a dana 40
No such thing as a Dana 40 . Quit saying that , people think you dont know anything .It is a Dana 44 . How did you break your axle , and where did it break , and are you sure it is broken. Dana 44s are pretty expensive , and if you can fix your old axle , depending on how you wheel , and tire size , it might be the way to go. Other than that , if you wheel like I do , you may want to look into a Dynatrac 44 , much stronger than a stock Dana 44 . You don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a stock axle and break it to , just go Dynatrac and don't have any worries.

x2 but you could try calling around to junkyards to see if they have any D44's.
Check the classifieds and craigslist in your area. Some of the more hardcore wheelers buy PR44's and sell their D44's. Also wouldn't hurt to check with mod shops in your area. They may have one taken off from someone that upgraded.
I bought a D44 that was nearly new for $1500. You can get a better price on an older one. Keep in mind if buying an older one though that the factory lockers can wear out.
To buy a D44 brand new, they run $3000.
If you just want to fix it cheap, you can usually find a D30 cheap. I sold mine for $400, less than a year old with a PSC diff cover.

Yes I realize they are 44. Yes it's definitely broken. Its my axle shaft not the assembly.Right near where the u-joint connects to the axle. On the short side for the front. I mean yea I can get a replacement for pretty cheap, and it's no big deal to change.. I'm running 35x12.50r20. What do you think. I wasn't even doing anything that demanding that would have caused it to break. What do ya think?

It is a 40,000lbs tandem drive axle. Probably a bit overkill. Heh.
If you just broke an axle shaft, you can easily get replacements. Same if its just a u-joint. With 35's, just get a nice set of chromoly shafts. Ten Factory, Alloy USA or G2 will run you about $500 a set and will be much stronger than stock. No need to replace everything. However, if you have about $6K burning a hole in your pocket, a Dynatrac Pro Rock 44 fully loaded with ARB locker would be a nice addition!
Edit*** And yes, running 35's on a dana 30 and having a shaft or u joint break is very common. I see it all the time when wheeling with my club. Most times it's a u-joint so guys carry spares and have gotten down to swapping them out rather quickly.
