Default Need Everyones Opinion

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get rid of the tires that came on my X as soon as possible. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of money, so I can either get Crager Soft 8's and 33's and hold out on doing any other mods for awhile, Or I was thinking of getting some used rubicon wheels and tires so I'd have money left to use on other mods.

Just wondering which option you'd go with and why?

And if I were to go with the used ribicons, are they good all around tires? I really don't know much about them and don't know how well they'll hold up until I can afford new tires...

Thanks for the help

On a budget, I would try and find a set of takeoff rubis tire and wheels and run them till you can afford to go bigger. The KMs are good tires, can be had pretty cheap and will do everything you want to do short of any major rock crawling. good luck dude

I got a set of 5 cragar 15's from online new for 240 shipped. As someone stated earlier. Tires to fit the 15's run much cheaper than trying to fit a 17 inch wheel.

I'm with the guys above, I bought steelies because they are cheap, work, and they look great on jeeps too.

If you want my answer to your question, I think Rubi take offs look good on 2 doors and they are decent all around tires. On 4 doors 32's leave a bit to be desired, so if you have a 4 door I would go 33's.

Discount Tire has some good deals. See what it would cost to do some soft 8s and tires with them

Well that's a great deal on wheels. Where'd you find that at? The cheapest cragers I've been able to find is $300 shipped.

Go with the takeoffs If you can find them at a reasonable price.

But what I don't understand is why tires cost so much as you go up in rim sizes. The bigger the rims the smaller the sidewall. The smaller the sidewall the less rubber, which should be cheaper to produce.

Default Rubi Tires

Rubi tires will get you most places and if you go much bigger you need to think about regearing not only that think of your fuel costs. You were talking bout not spending a lot of money you have to remember and think of the long run.... like a credit card with interest think of the tire size as if it were interest paid on gas. the bigger the tire more gas you use.

Good Luck

Lol, you wouldnt see the difference between 33's and 32's unless they were side by side.

Buy some dirt cheap treadwrights or something and save until you can afford to build as you want. Its way more expensive to buy the same thing (tires) twice.

Sold my five Rubicon wheels/tires on Craigslist for $400 a couple months ago.
I'd check there and see if you can find a deal. Then save your money for some 33's or 35's with some nice aftermarket wheels.
