D30 is a fine axle... i have abused mine for years with a locker. Just make a couple of mods and you are good to go.

Get alloy axle shafts (3 years and haven't broken them yet)
Gusset and sleeve
I have a lunch box locker in mine.

Dont let the jeep bounce
Be smart with wheel spin

I ride on 4s all day long when i go. Now, i have broken 3 sets of standard shafts with my locker and have had to replace my bearings recently due to the drive shaft angles. Bent control arms, shocks, tie rods, etc. But damn if that d30 isnt holding up.

An 07 had 4:10's as an option on X's w tow pkg. 08 to 11 X/Sport's is 3:73 w tow pkg. 07 is the ONLY year a non-Rubi w 3.8L could have a 4:10 gear ratio.

I would put some money aside for a driveshaft fund. If you plan on off roading much, and disconnecting the front axle, there is a good chance that you will need a driveshaft at some point.
