Default Need help with Brakes

Been running for 2 months now with 35's and can feel my brakes getting worse by the day. The added weight has certainly abused the stock brakes.

Can I just replace with premium heavy duty pads

Or do I need to buy the rotors pads calipers

Any recs?

Thanks in advance.

You have a couple of options. First, you can just add new pads, like the Hawk ones. Jeepswag (a vendor here) has them. Those should be a lot better than the stock ones, and you should be able to just slap them on (and possibly have the rotors turned, if need be.)

Or...if you're wanting to upgrade, you can get the big brake kit from Teraflex or Rebel Offroad. Both are supposed to be quite the improvement overall with stopping bigger tires and lifted JK's.

Thanks Merlin. That is great information. I will plan to look at both options. Maybe I will do the pads for now and if not satisfied do the whole kit in 10,000 miles or so.

Make sure you check your rear pads too. Mine were gone at 36000 miles. The fronts are still fine. I think it has to do with the traction device activating. Mine were also caked with mud, maybe not retracting. Rotors seemed fine.

I had the same problem with mine when I was running 35s. My rear brakes went out at 18,000 miles. I took the rotors to get resurfaced and put new semi metalic pads on and everything worked a lot better Only cost me $55 to do the back.

After replacing the brakes , shut your ESP off and they'll last alot longer.

To shut off the ESP do you just push the button on the dash or do you need something like the superchips programmer???
Thanks

I just spliced into the wire and ran a toggle switch to break the circuit
I thought of doing a write up on this if anyone thinks I should

I just went through my jeep having a mind of it's own due to splicing into the reverse lights to add backup lights. I was on the highway and my wipers came on and lost any use of the skinny pedal. Not good
So I am very hesitant on splicing or wire tapping right now. But I would love to read a write up and subscribe to a thread on how to shut off ESP.
Thanks
