Default Need help choosing the right lift. Please advise

My jk 4 door currently has stock suspension and I am looking to lift it. I don't want to just get a bb 2 inch I want to get something bigger but I need help choosing something that will fit my driving style. When I am off road I like going around 30-40 on the trails. I obviously don't do this on my stock suspension because it will bottom out too easily on bumps and pot holes. I want to get some kind of long travel kit. Something I can go fast through the trails in, and something that I can also drive daily on. I am looking to spend under $3000.

I've tried searching for something like this but with no results. With my driving style I need something that can power through mud, pot holes and small jumps, not something that drives over big rocks and climbs things.

Any help or suggestions are welcomed. I need something with on and off road capability. I am thinking about the AEV nth degree premium 4.5 inch kit. but haven't looked into anything beyond that.

Thanks for the help

You might look into a 4" long arm type lift with some good air bump stops. Coilovers would be super, but are probably outside of you budget.

Yah I'm am looking to go 3-4 inch. What specific lift would you you recommend? I would love to go with coilovers but can't afford that much right now.

Off Road Evolution (EVO), Full Traction, TeraFlex, and Rock Krawler all make good long arm lifts. Off Road Evolution makes a bolt or weld on version, Full Traction makes a bolt on version, and I think the rest have to be welded on. EVO has some good air bump stops and TeraFlex also has some good bump stops.

I live in MI and I have a place in the upper part of the mitten and up there there are a ton of snowmobile trails, atv trails and two tracks that go through the woods.

sounds like fire access type roads, more so than hardcore wheelin. not judging, everyone has their preference of off roading. 2.5-3" coil lift will be more than enough for this, as would stock suspension, it sounds like. if you want a more aggressive stance and bigger tires, do a 2.5" TF coil lift with 35s, or their leveling kit with 33s.

Yah It's definitely not any extreme wheeling. I just need something that I can go through some big holes in fast and not bottom anything out.

I get the fact that you don't want to do rock crawling, but hitting a "big" hole (say > 1/3 the size of the tire) at 40 MPH on any type of regular basis is extreme wheeling in the form of off road racing.

The AEV Lift kit is an outstanding kit for both road and off road driving, but you will need more than that to hit big holes at that speed.

I have the AEV Premium kit and I drive my JK at times 20-25 MPH on open, windy and fairly smooth desert trails with small brush at best and it works very well.

No lift kit is going to prevent bottoming out. I think you need to focus on what happens when you bottom out. Sounds like you might look into hydraulic bump stops. You need to deal with the extreme compression your style of driving will produce. I run the AEV 4.5" kit as well and it is very impressive on and off road.
