Default Need Help Picking A Lift

Dont bash me just yet, Ive done some research. However, the nearest teraflex dealer is 300 miles away. Ive contacted 4 local shops within an hours drive. Two shops said rough country, 1 suggested skyjacker, the 4th said bds. All four of these shops carry pretty much the same lifts. So I can pick from skyjacker, rc, bds, super lift, black diamond, or rancho. Im confused, I don't want to be "sold" by the shops. The lift is just for looks, I want to clear 35s. Do I need a stabilizer?

I just got my Rough Country 3.5 series 2 lift installed and I really like it! It's my prep for 35's as well. $500 for the kit and it's as complete as they come for a short arm setup. I love it. Highly recommended!

Have you thought about installing it yourself or recruiting some local Jeepers to help you out? May save you some money

You can order a lift from many different vendors on this forum as well as others. Just google the lift you want and order it. Teraflex and AEV are probably the biggest and most popular lifts for JKs but there are many other quality kits by the likes of Rock Krawler, Daystar, etc. You can fit 35" tires on a stock JK with low backspacing wheels and flat fenders but I would not recommend this. A proper lift for 35s is gonna be a 2+ lift like the common 2.5" kits from all lift makers. You do not need a new steering stabilizer either. You can put one on if you like but it is not required to run either 35s or 2.5 lift.

If you get a chance, look TeraFlex up. We offer more kits than any of our competitors out there. You can run a TeraFlex 2.5" or 3" kit for those 35's. Welcome to the forum!

I don't own the tools or have the garage to do the work. What should the labor cost be to install a lift. Im getting quotes from 300 to 500.

This depends entirely on which lift you choose and the number of components. 4WheelParts has a flat rate of $270 per lift install. Check with them to see if you have one in your area however, there are also a lot of people on this forum and in your local area that can help you put it on. You don't need a shop to do it and you'll appreciate having done the work your self.

You pretty much get what you pay for with a lift, but if you are lifting it just for the look and don't care so much about how it rides or does off road then just go with the best deal

I don't want to be cheap, but not go overboard...Im willing to spend 1000 bucks on the kit alone.

if you're not going to use it, save the cash and just stick some spacers in there, and get some fenders to clear the 35's. Heck, chop the fenders and save even more money. That way you can spend it on other bling instead

To me, the biggest consideration when getting a lift is how much weight is it going to be supporting. Are you going to put on steel bumpers front and rear, heavy rockrails and tirecarrier bumper? If so, you need a heavy duty lift. If you are keeping the stock bumpers and such, a medium or light duty will do better for you.

Where in Florida are you? If you are in or near the Orlando area I would be glad to help you install it yourself. You will learn your Jeep and be much more capable with repairs and maintenance down the road if you do it yourself (with help). I have a large garage and all of the needed tools.
