That is a great thread! A must read.

Another key consideration when making you choose is your budget. At the end of the day, how much total are you considering putting into your jeep?

Check out jeep suspension lift|4wo for some options. Rock Crawler has the max travel kit that behaves well on the road and can perform good off the road when you need it.. Other reliable brands are OME and Rubicon Express.

I love my metalcloak lift. Rides very well on road with loads of flex on the fun stuff.

I've been wanting to achieve this since I purchased my JK and here's what I've learned if you want to do it right. Hop on the downward spiral of the money pit.

1. The purpose of getting a lift is that you'll want to get bigger tires. You'll want to get 35's, anything bigger the following steps increase exponentially in cost and additional steps.
2. When you get the bigger tires, this impacts your axle and transmission gearing. Speedo won't work right, shifting is not right.
2. To fix your gearing you'll want to replace the front Dana 30 axle your Sahara came with to a Dana 44 or larger, so the pumpkin of the axle is big enough so you can fit bigger gears.
3. You'll then want to Re-gear the front and rear axles to matching 4.88 or 5.10 gears to better match the larger tire size.
4. Since you're re-gearing you will want to add front and rear lockers since your Sahara doesn't have them.
5. Once you get that done, then you'll need to reprogram the ECM so it shifts properly and your speedo reads correct. Therefore you'll want to get a Superchips or Procal programmer.
6. Once you're reprogrammed, got the right gears and lockers, got your lift, then you'll want to beef up your axles with gussets, C's and other stuff to make the axle and its housing stronger so it doesn't bend due to having the bigger tires and going off-road.
7. To keep those bigger tires on the ground and make best use of all the above, you'll want to get some quick disconnect sway bars.

Good luck!!!

Do I have this about right? Did I miss anything?

This, "I want a lift recommendation" question isn't as easy as it sounds is what I've come to learn.
