Default Need HELP! U-joint / Axel seal question

This weekend I put an OME lift and 35's KM2's on my 07 X JK. Thats the good news and the jeep looks great. I have a vibration but I think the tires are not balanced.

Now the bad when taking off the Pass front tire we noticed the U joint is gone. The question I have is about the front axel with the U joint sloppy should I be able the move the axel end all around? I don't think thats right do I need to replace the axel bearing or seal? I have never done this before so the whole thing is new to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you explain things a little more. If the joint's gone, how can it be sloppy? What exactly is turning around?

I U joint is bad its still there but I can move the axel shaft up and down and fore aft. You can also hear the U joint clunk when you spin the tire.

The U-joint keeps the inner axle in place so if the u-joint is shot then you will get play on the axle itself. There is nothing other than the outer axle holding the inner axle in place place.

I'm not convinced you even have a problem, or if you do have a problem it's with the u-joint.

Take a picture of the joint, the tie rod and drag link. Video of this movement would be better. Replacing a u-joint is easy and can't hurt to replace a good one, but if you have a problem, it may not get fixed by replacing the u-joint.

As far as finding a replacement, they are cheap (about $25 for 2) and easy to find at your local parts store or dealer. They can even give you the part number. (Spicer 5-760X)
