Default Need info on a Lift Kit

I just ordered a 2014 Jk unlimited sport and I want to lift it. I want a 3" lift and 35's. I will be absolutely no off-roading. I live in a city so it is just for looks. I don't want to spend a ton of money. I want to look good and be able to handle highway speeds.

The best for you would be a 2.5" Coil Spacer lift, commonly called a Budget Boost. These spacers go on top of whatever springs you have, be them stock or aftermarket.

You can get BB's fairly cheap second hand as people buy then sell them, then buy coil lift kits as they off-road more.

You can get shock extension adapters or go with longer shocks.

Personally, I have ran both TeraFlex and Rough Country spacer kits, didn't feel a difference in them. Rubicon Red stock shocks are a much better ride than the black shocks on other models. I would suggest getting a set of those off CL or on here for $75-$125 shipped all 4.

Default Rough Country

Do you know anything about Rough Country's 3.25 lift. How are they?

The RC lift is a popular entry level lift kit at an attractive price point.

If it fits in your budget, I would go with the AEV 2.5" instead. It arguably delivers the best handling as well as a great ride on the road. It will look good and feel even better in a straight line or curve.

I have a RC 4" lift it works great but look at the recomended accessories for each lift. some of those parts are needed if you plan on driving your Jeep without being a hazard to everyone else. For example my Jeep was a death trap on 35"s when I bought it, I got it cheap for that reason. I added an adjustable track bar and drop control arm brackets and removed the front track bar bracket that came with the kit. Now it drives and rides very great I can't complain other than its not a long arm :( also get some bump stops and sway bar disconnects if you plan on going off road.

Do the drop control arm brackets really make that big of a difference?

They are great if you are keeping the stock arms. I have about 10000 miles on the RC arms no problems. They are made like the AEV brackets. They add some needed caster. adjustable lower control arms will let you dial in the caster but cost twice as much.

Well I have RC upper and lower adjustables. I just wonder if dropping them will make it ride smoother and/or better. I also have plush ride coils and fox 2.0 shocks. I haven't seen anyone post that they have them so I was just curious.

I don't know why you would want to go over 3" of lift for zero offroading. I would go 2-2.5" max. Or heck, you could easily cut your fenders and throw 35's on and be just fine for the street, or maybe throw a leveling kit on. I wheel the heck out of mine on 2.5" and 35's. I recommend the budget boost, unless $750-1000 is justifiable to you to get a better ride than stock.

A budget boost won't affect your ride. A crappy coil lift that's maybe a few bucks more than a budget boost can make the ride worse than stock. Just keep that in mind

Another vote for the AEV 2.5. Plan on replacing stock drag link, tie rod and ball joints later on.
