Sounds like you need the Ripp long tube headers!

Diablosport does make a tuner called the predator that allows you to remap the ECU. I have the tuner and i'm waiting to pull the trigger on a good pro tuning. I bought it specifically for the ripp long tube headers. The headers make it a little better, but i'm excited to see if I noticed a difference with the tune..i'm sure I will.

It will eventually have a V8, it gets it good off the line but at higher speed there is not much left in the throttle.

I suppose I am just use to having power, previous truck was a Duramax. Big block 68, 69 camaros. Land Cruiser with V8, CJ-7 with V8. This is my first vehicle that does not have a V8.

Just have to put up with it I guess for a while anyway. Thanks for ideas etc.

I'm very glad you said this. AND I HOPE that a lot of guys that are somewhat new to the Jeep world REALIZE that even at 60 mph, one false move, or just a slight overcompensation in steering at high speed, and your JK could easily be rolling or flipping end over end for damn near a hundred yards...!!! The faster you go the more touchy the steering will be. The thing is...IMO, these JKs drive so nice that it kinda gives a person a false sense of security. But believe me, these things ARE NOT MADE FOR SPEED AND WILL ROLL IN A BLINK OF AN EYE........PERIOD!!!

I'll say it again........IN A JEEP...SLOW DOWN AND LIVE...!!! (and this is coming from a guy that drove many muscle cars as a kid) If you want to fly down the highway, get a car that is designed to do it. Until then, enjoy your jeep for what IT was designed to do....

BTW....I have a CJ5 with the 304 V8. It lets you know REAL QUICK how a short wheelbase reacts to speed...

Couldn't agree more. My last vehicle was an Audi a4. Traded it in for my first jeep to sloooww things down. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't still drive 70-80mph on the highway though.

hahaha true that! I understand the JK is not a racecar but a little more encouraging merging acceleration would be desired. My jk is stock now, would a flashpack and CAI make the improvement id be looking for though? ( also i have 3.21 gears :( Sahara )

Have you tried kicking off the Overdrive to pass & then flipping it back on? (Trick I learned while driving limo's to get on hwy)

Default Under powered

Hell, all this talk of being under powerd......my old Renagade (CJ-7 for you young'uns) took about 3.5-4 miles of straight road way to get up to 70mph. I though my Rubicon was powered fair enough being able to hit 70-80 on the interstate and passes fairly well. I do expect it to get worse with bigger tires.

Yes.....I hit 70-80 when I pass, and believe it or not it gets there pretty fast. BUT we have a 55 mph speed limit here, so it's 60 mph as a rule for me. Don't miss the speed.......my muscle car days are long gone....
