Default Need Quick help please...Can't get axle shaft out

Ok, long story short U-Joint failure and needed to replace and upgrade axle shaft. Well I have everything apart but I can't get the front drivers side axle shaft to come out. My D30 is sleeved, could that be the reason why this isn't coming out? I am not getting it to budge at all

it really should just slide right out the unit bearing is the only thing that holds it in so as soon as you pop that off i just slides out. with the front end jacked up can you spin the shaft by hand?

Yeah, I can spin it by hand but there is one spot where it gets tight.

Here is what I just tried:

As you might be able to see I took a tow strap and my scissor jack and tried pulling from the u-joint

Default Axle shaft

Did you try tapping on it with a hammer when you had it under pressure with the jack and strap? Maybe a slide hammer?

There ain't no tapping going to get it out. You gotta hit that thing hard.

Ok, well the Jeep beat me....

Once I took the dif cover off, attached to the ARB magnet was a piece of a tooth. So the gears are shot and when I looked in to see what was preventing the shaft from coming out I saw that the spines were all chewed up. So I am going to call the closest off road shop and the Dealership to see who is going to give me a better deal on putting new gears in and replacing the shaft.

Thanks for all your help everyone!

bummer about you gears - your r&p will still spin with the drive shaft off. remove the axle shafts, plug up your tubes and you should be good to go.
