Default Need rake measurements please.

Guys and girls,

I have also posted this in the stock JK forum, but I thought that most likely someone here might have the numbers I am after.

Thing is that after seeing numerous stock JKU Saharas on the street and in parking lots, I am certain that my 10A has less rake than a regular Wrangler, like if Jeep would have somewhat corrected the rake while lifting the stock 10A 1/2 inch.

With this said, I am reluctant to order a leveling kit, since I don't want to end up with the front end higher looking than the rear, which ends up looking worse than the stock rake.

So I would need measurements from stock suspension JKU taken on a level surface of course, from the ground to the front of the rear fender flares, and from the ground to the rear of the front fender flares. Since these areas start from the body, I believe these would be perfect places to measure.

Also, anyone knows how much higher the rear end went up upon removal of the hard top ????

Thanks.

The 10A is more level (less rake) than regular Rubicons. I would measure ground to bottom of frame in front and ground to bottom of frame in rear and see what the delta is. It may be cheaper to order the correct coil spacers to get it exactly level if that is what your goal is. If you are looking for a little more height, you may be able to order the Teraflex leveling kit and only use one of the front spacers?

This ^ And maybe try measuring your jeep, then jack up the front to where you like it and measure it again so you'll know exactly what size spacer you want.

That is why I am looking at 1/2 inch rear and 1 inch front spacers. I am running 285/70r17 Duratracs and will not run bigger. Therefore, I don't want to lift it too high, since as you know, the 10A already has a 1/2 inch stock lift.

The jack thing is a good idea...... however, taking the measurement where I requested, was to avoid having people get dirty and dive uner their jeeps to take measurements. From the ground to the front of rear flares and the rear of front flares is straighforward and can be taken in a few seconds.

Thanks.

Anyone knows by how much the rear goes up upon removal of hardtop ??? On my TJ, I used to install and take off front coil spacers in the spring and automn to make-up for the suspension change due to running the hardtop or not...... want to avoid going that anal again

I used the Teraflex leveling kit which has two 1" spacers for the front and one 1" spacer for the rear.
I just used one spacer front and rear which left the rake the same. Didn't need the sway bar links that came with it.
That will clear 285/70-17s.
Look at Jeepfan.com for pics.

You can measure the front of the pinch seam and the rear of the pinch seam to see if its level, but it won't tell you how much to raise the front cause it's not far enough forward.
Measure from the top of the tire to the bottom of the flare, then jack it up to where it looks good, then re-measure at the same spot. That's the size spacer you'll need.
Remember, an unloaded level Jeep sits ass low when it's fully loaded, and IMHO looks worse than a rake.
Of course if you end up nose high, you can always drop a winch on that bad boy.

Yeah, the reverse rake doesn't look good... that is why I am going with 1/2 rear and 1 inch front. That way I will retain a small rake, giving me a close to level rake when loaded eith full tank of gas and daughters..lol!!!

People don't seem to realise that although a jeep looks perfectly levelled when parked on level ground, the rake become reverse when driving down the street... I thought everybody knew that the front end raises when you drive down the street. Just holding the throttle....

And for the record, this is what I'm at now, you can see that I do not need spacers to clear the Duratracs 285/70-17 with the stock half inch suspension lift. I think the 1/2 inch rear and 1 inch front will just give it that lifted look with very little effect on the suspension travel.Click image for larger version

you could always go with ps alum flairs and gain a lot more tire room too it appears lifted as well (but you like the painted flares you have im sure )
