For some reason not all the time when I have my heat on it smells like fart/ sulfer/ eggs. If I put the hvac to recirculate the air I don't smell it. I have a 2007 so no cabin filter. I don't smell it coming from the exhaust so I don't think it is the cats. Any input?

Turn the heat on and spray lysol down the vent on the hood. Make sure you turn the vent knob to all directiosn each time you spray.

This happened to me in the 90's with my 84 bronco. It was the cat that was causing it. If we sat stationary for to long is when the smell started to get real bad. Hope you find the cause soon, cause that smell is just terrible.

I think it might be the cats. I believe the smell is coming from the exhaust. I never smell it in the summer only winter. And only some times. The dealer ship said the cats are covered under 8 year 80k warranty. So It's covered for 3 more months. They have to diagnose it and if it turns out to not be the cats I have to pay the fee. My question is what does the test consist of
