need some help with lift kit
Looking at doing a 4" lift kit i wanna fit 35's with stock flares and no rubbing. I have been around lifted trucks and know you get what you pay for. I will be doing mostly trail riding when i go off road and beach but i want the jeep to ride smooth on the pavement. Some people i have seen on here post that their lifted jeep rides better lifted then it did stock on the highway and thats what i am looking for also. Was looking at the teraflex kit and the off road evolution kit with the fox shocks what does everyone think or recommend for me also if i do 4" do i need new driveshafts its a 4 door auto thanks.
I did a 3" Zone Offroad lift, I know its cheap but I'm so impressed I'm glad I did it, runs great on road and super flexy off road. It netted 2.25 inches but I have a lot of extra weight from skids, bumpers and winches. It clears 35 perfectly and I didn't need to do driveshafts. Not sure on driveshafts for the 4 door but I believe they are recommended for any lift over 3".
I went the semi-cheap route and have a 4" Skyjacker with lower static-length arms. I went with the rear springs from the 2.5" kit and Daystar spacers to sit level. MX-6 shocks. Upgraded the steering stabilizer twice and now have the Rough Country dual.
35"s have absolutely no rubbing issues with aftermarket ProComp wheels. With stock wheels you'll need spacers.
Overall I've been very happy with the kit and it included the rear trackbar brace; I'm running stock trackbars with brackets. The ride is a bit harsh but not any worse than stock. At some point I'll upgrade the shocks but sooner I'll probably drop the front arms with the AEV brackets.
At the time that I got the lift (almost 3 years ago) it was the best bang-for-the-buck kit. There are probably better alternatives now though. I haven't really been looking since I'm happy with mine.
With the 4 door Auto I believe you'll need a new front driveshaft. The stock will work for a while but the boot will tear and eventually the shaft will fail.
Good luck!

thats what i didnt know if i should just run the spacers or do a whole kit. On my lifted truck i had used the superlift kit which is good but for my model everyone was running a lift from donahoe racing which was suppose tp be the smoothest ride and so forth. I just wanna do the best from the begining this time.

- When flexed, it may contact the corner of the tranny pan and/or crossmember skid, tearing the boot.
- With the new angles, the rzeppa at the tcase may bind, tearing that joint.
Both will cause the loss of grease, which will eventually get noisy (your cue to look for a replacement) and then bind up. You can't replace the boot, but a recent post indicates that you may be able to keep re-greasing by hand to prolong the life.
Also, research a bit more to find out the 'actual' lift height you are going to receive with those coils. Don't be surprised with 4 inches on the 3" coils, and 5+ with the 4" coils...
