Need some wheel help please
Question for the experts, because I'm not
I just bought a set of ProComp wheels for my 2011 JK Wrangler Sport. Factory wheel size was 17X8, and that is also the size of the new wheels I ordered. New wheels have a 4.5 backspace and 0" offset. I couldn't find the factory backspace figures for my 2011. When I put the new wheel on, it seems like it's sticking out past the factory fender about 1.5 inches.
The wheels I bought did not give me any other option than a 4.5 inch backspace. I'm guessing that there isn't anything else I can do other than order wheels with a larger backspace so that they are flush with the fenders. Anyone have any other ideas? I could keep the wheels, but I was under the impression that a vehicle would not pass inspection if the wheels stick out past the fenders (I'm in PA).
Thanks for any help you could provide.

The factory 17" wheels are actually 7.5" wide, not 8" and they have a 6.25" backspacing. There was a recent post where a member here was running ~5+" backspacing and his tires stuck out 1.5" past the fenders.

It's a compromise when running wider tires.....If you don't get wheels with the proper backspacing you run the risk of your tires rubbing your suspension parts but at the same time they stick out past the fenders which would be illegal in some states. The other alternative would be to run wider aftermarket fender flares
