Default Need thoughts on this set up please!!!

I have a 2010 JKU 6 speed and Im itching for bigger tires. Like most of you I'm sure money is SUPER tight with my wife being a full time college student and three children so I have some questions. My jeep is a daily driver and will be taken offroad on easy trails to get to or find fishing holes but I always wanna have the ability to add on at a later time.
Wheels- I want to keep my stock 16 in wheels (saves money)
Tires-I love the aggressive look but I do realize that since most of my driving is on pavement that any mt tire will wear away quickly so I am open to looking at AT's as long as they are aggressive looking as possible and can get me through some mussy trails and loose sand. I was looking at 285/75/R16's, 295/75/r16's and 315/75/r16's
Lift- I have no lift as of yet but I am looking at a leveling kit, or budget boost with spacers in hopes of adding shocks at a later time. My question for this is what size of the above mentioned tires can I fit on stock wheels with no lift?
Spacers- what size spacers will I need for everything mentioned above?

I guess for money purposes to start off I'd like to just buy 295/75/r16's on stock wheels with no lift. Will this work and what size spacers do I need? AND is there anything else I'm forgetting?
Sorry if this question is been replied to before but I've read SO much it's all running together now and become mush in my brain. Thanks for your help.

Since you are looking for a well balanced tire, have you checked out the GY Duratracs? And since you're on a budget take a look at the TF 2.5" spring lift or budget boost. That's a nice cheap way to get going.

Remember though that you're Jeep is very capable as is, so if money is tight, wheel it stock. If something breaks that's the perfect time to upgrade. I had my unlimited sahara on level 4-5 trails with stock crappy bridgestone tires and sagging from bumpers and rockrails and it did very well, only needed a tug twice.

Have fun with it

You're absolutley right!!! I gotta have some patience.. I know I'd run off and buy something just to put it on but settle for less because of price. And besides after reading my own post I've decided on going with the TF BB and most likely the 285/75/r16 or 295's.. Still gonna keep the stock wheels though. do you know how much backspacing I'd need for that??? thanks again for keepin me grounded

I'm running this exact tire size, and it works great as an upgrade for a daily driver that doesn't break the bank.

I'm using ProComp All-Terrain tires, 285/75/R16. I installed these on my 2007 Jeep in June 2007, and it was this month (beginning of June 2010) that I finally replaced them. The tires lasted me 60k miles as a daily driver, but I did rotate the tires regularly.

In my case I also bought ProComp Rock Crawler 'soft 8' steel wheels with 4.5" backspacing, so our situations aren't identical-- I'm unsure if you'd run into any rubbing problems with the stock rim backspacing.

I did not have to do any lifting for that size tire, but I did install 1.75" spacer lift last year when I added heavy duty skid plates & roof rack (was afraid the added weight was going to make it sag too much & rub)
