Default Need Traction Aid

I have a 2012 Sport without a rear Trac Lok. I would like to add a rear traction device that won't break the bank and still be able to handle 33" tires and have good streetability. Most of my wheeling will be forrest roads, farm fields, and deep snow. Considering adding a Trac Lok or Tru Trak. Any suggestions?

Detroit TrueTrac. Much better than the factory limited that uses clutches. From your stated use, this would be my first choice.

Next step up would be a Detroit Locker. This is a full locker, with some street driveability quirks. Excellent offroad, though.

And after that you are looking at thousand dollar selectables. ARB would be my top pick here.

Sounds like a Detroit Truetrac would be perfect for you.

Maybe consider doing front and rear?

I wouldn't lock a Dana 30 on 33s unless you build the Dana 30

He mentioned the rear. At minimum it would be a D35.

If you get a selectable get an Eaton. Less problems than ARB.

I'm running the JK Dana 44 in the rear. Was hoping to spend around $400-500 plus installation. I believe the selectables will all be out of my price range.

The Detroit Truetrac is your best option IMO. You can run them front and rear.

It is an HP 30 so it is a bit stronger for the R&P when in drive. Outward are same what comes on the rubi 44.

No offense, but have you run a truetrack with 33s on a D30?

I wheeled the heck out of my old ZJ with a dual true tracks with 31" tires, 4.56 gears, and a V8 with almost 300lbsft torque. This was a Low pinion D30 so power was to the coast side. 4.56 is important as it means a smaller pinion. I had no problems.

In other words, under a dog engine, HPD30, with a limited slip, he'll have little to no problems.
