Default New 33" GoodYear questions

I want a true 33 or 34" tire. I am going to be keeping my stock 17" wheels when I upgrade my tires in the spring. I am thinking of going with the new MTR's with Kevlar or Dura Trac. I am reading on the forum that the MTR 35's measure as a true 35" height. Does anyone know if the new MTR 33" or Dura Trac 33" measures a true 33" or if it is in the 32" range. The reason I ask is because I want to go with a mild lift and 33's. If these are like other 33"s and are a little short I might as well go with a less expensive 35" tire (Cooper or KM2) that actually measures in the 34" range. What do you all think.

A brand new set of 33" MTR/K's will measure 32", and the 35's will measure 34".

According to Goodyear, the LT305/70R17's have an outside diameter of 34.1"; the LT285/70R17's have an outside diameter of 33".

I'm interested to know how correct those numbers are as well.

IMO you shouldn't compromise your tire choice based on +- 0.5" in tire height.

If you like the Goodyear MTRKs and Dura Tracs pick the size amongst them that best fits your needs.

Actual installed tire height can vary another 1+" with air pressure and amount of gear on your JK.

You can visually notice these difference most of time anyway.

I have a set of Duratracs on my rig. 295/65R18 on the stock "Gladiator" wheels. Under the weight of the Jeep they measure 32.5". Before the were mounted, they were right at 33". I just ran out to the garage and measured 'em. I can do a chalk measurement tomorrow if you want a precise answer, but I'm guessing that is gonna come out to 33".

I remember wayoflife (I think) posting a pic of the Kevlar 35 next to another brand 35 and it was much taller. Others on here have also commented that the 315/70/17 actually measures out at 35". That is what makes me so curious. Is the 285/70/17 MTR actually 33" and is the 305/70/17 MTR actually 34". If they measure true like the 35s do, the 305/70/17 will be a perfect fit for what I am looking to do.

spinlock that is exactly why I am asking. Do I spend the extra $150-$200 on five of the 315/70 or get the 305/70 and put the money towards other mods? I would rather get a true 34" tire instead of buying a 35" tire and spending more money.

The reply that I gave to your question are the actual measurements of those tires mounted on the Jeep with its wieght on it with the tires @ 27-28 psi.

That makes sense. 35 with no weight on it, 34 with the Jeep's weight on it. What makes the most sense for me is to get the 305/70/17 which more than likely measure 34" off the Jeep and 33" with the weight of the Jeep. Thanks everyone for the help.
