Default New Air Filter vs Cold air intake

Looking to get some feed back. Is a complete cold air intake worth the money or is it better just to upgrade to a k&n filter and put money else where in my jeep? Also will I see that much gain in either power or mpg. Thanks for the input

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the stock box and filter.
To me, that makes a "cold air" intake, which isn't any more "cold air" than the OEM system, a waste of money.

And if a new filter in the stock box flows more air, it's probably not catching as much dirt.

Thanks for the reminder, though. I have a new stock filter waiting to go in. I'll do it this morning.

I went for the K&N drop in on my 3.6L. I had a full cold air intake on my 2010 sport, and with exhaust and a tuner I def felt a little more umpff, but with my new rubi the power is more than adequate and I wanted to protect my engine from water better than with a CAI, stock air box seems pretty good, besides going the snorkel route which I'm not ready to do.

There are abaout 400 threads on this subject if you want to use the search. Most will tell you it is a waste of money and don't expect some magical new power or an increase in mpg.

Wont take much of a mud hole to suck water into a cold air intake. You can run pretty deep with the stock box. You wont notice any additional power off a filter. Not saying you wont get an extra 1, 2 or 5....but you wont notice it.

I'd vote stock filter unless you also planned on a tuner and a full power-optimizing workover, which may only really net 20hp or so unless you supercharge.

Save your money. Paper filter is the best bang for your buck unless your going the snorkel route.

If you don't try to drown your jeep than a CAI will be just fine. I ordered the AFE today
