Default New control arms necessary?

Hey all, I was looking to an economy lift kit for starters through full traction and it uses all the same components as in a full lift kit. To cut temporary costs, it only comes with coils, track bar brackets and swaybar links. Would it make a huge difference if I just used my stock arms instead of the aftermarket ones even though it's a 3" kit?

are they "necessary"? no. will a set of front lowers help you set your caster and make your highway drive nicer? yes. being that you have a 2-door, you'll need to change out your rear drive shaft sooner than later with 3" of lift and a rear set of adjustable upper arms will be needed when you do to set your pinion angle though.

Just curious, what kind of thing(s) does the front lower control arm improve? I'm debating the same thing.

adjustable control arms will correct your caster angle and bring it back to stock. It will make it steer like it did when it was stock.

On 2" coils you may not notice a big difference.

well, technically, lower arms are used to help you reposition your axle under your jeep but, on a smaller lift, you can lengthen them a bit and that will help add a bit more positive caster. without this and with 3" of lift, your jeep will feel a bit flighty at highway speeds. correcting your caster will help make it feel more like it did when you were still stock.

actually, it'll only help provide better bind free flex IF you have arms with joints that allow for greater rotation and without upper arms to go with them, they alone won't do a whole lot. as far as pinion angle goes, you only use adjustable upper arms to set your REAR pinion. up front, you want to set your caster and, adding more positive caster will technically make your pinion angle worse.

I just came across a 2" kit through them also, it comes with the front trac bar. It'll save the driveshaft but will the caster be an issue without the arms?

I held off awhile before adding front lowers to my Jeep also. After having them installed for two months, I can kick myself for not doing them with the lift. Hands down my Jeep drives better than stock and probable the best mod Ive done to date.

I have a 2.5" lift with 315/75/16s, and have been looking at Teraflex lower flex arms. My caster is 2.7 on the left and 3 on the right. I pull left. How are the flex arms adjusted? Should I have an alignment shop adjust, or do it myself? I'm about to pull the trigger on these because I am a bit flighty and the left pull. Will flex arms fix both?
