Default New front DS needed?

I have decided to run the TF or RK 2.5" lift instead of the 3.5" flavor and I am curious as to whether or not I will still need the aftermarket front DS with the smaller 2.5" lift?

Thanks in advance?

Default front drive shaft

i hear that even with a 2.5 you will be in need of a new front shaft. i'm at 3" on an jku and i'm pretty sure my front is going. depends, on driving habits, manual trans, 2 door, disconnected, etc. the stockers are pretty crappy imo.

I have a 2012 JKU
About 16000 miles on it. Put my lift on at about 5000 miles. I wheel at least twice and sometimes 3-4 times a month.

I disconnect once a month or so and wheel it pretty hard. Have not had an issue with the front DS yet. Knock on wood.

I check my DS boot at the transfer case after each outing.

being that you have a 2012, it depends on what shocks you run. if you install longer shocks, yes, you will still need one. if you stick with stock shocks with extensions or aftermarket shocks made to limit your droop, you should be okay.

Are the 12's different? I ran 2.5 for a while and now 3.5 with longer shocks and 37's on my 08 rubicon and disconnect regularly off road and usually flex it to the point where a wheel is almost off the ground, and I've had the stock front and rear drive shafts the whole time. Never tore the boot and they don't appear to be twisted.

yes, the 12's are different. the exhaust cross over is in a different location and the angle of the output shafts is steeper.
