Welcome! im sure that youll love the new jeep, id go with a 2.5" lift so that you dont run into angle issues and 2.5" would be enough for 35s

congratulations on your new JK and welcome to the forum!

regarding your question, a basic 2.5" budget boost may be all that you need for your purposes and there are a lot of great companies that offer similar kits. teraflex, full-traction, etc. being that you have a 2012, you will want to either run shocks that limit your front axle from dropping too low. or, if you want to run longer shocks, install exhaust spacers or some kind of exhaust cross over relocation like afe makes. that alone should be enough to keep your factory front shaft. a new replacement would be something you'd want to do also if you go taller.

Welcome and congrats!

I wouldn't be quick to jump on a gear change for 35s on a 2012. The 3.73s are workable and I'd roll it for a while before I decided on if a jump in gear set is necessary. A fair amount of extra power on the 2012s, and the transmission is head and shoulders above the predecessors.

agreed 100%. i think you'll find that 35's on a 2012 with 3.73's are fine.

Several great 2.5" lifts out there. One that has been getting a lot of attention is the Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel. Little more than others, but you get lower high clearance control arms. Or David at Northridge has 2 great kits he puts together..He does an OME lift with track bars or Teraflex 2.5" with Bilstein 5100 shocks.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I agree a 2.5" lift and stock gears would be a good starting point

Would you mind going into more detail? It was my understanding that a 2.5" TF does not require this?
taller shocks mean more exhaust spacing?

The way I understand it is taller shocks allows more axle travel. The more your axle travels the closer it will contact the new exhaust. I.E....Getting the spacer or new pipe or run shorter shocks. TF 2.5 kit is known for taller hights with stock bumpers and whatnot.
