Hey Everyone... Newbie Here!
Just purchased a 2011 JK unlimited. I ordered the leveling kit and now in process of new more aggressive tire than the stock GY SR-A. Question is.. should I stick with stock size and utilize wheel spacers to widen stance or should I just go with a 33" x 11.5? Want an agressive look and stance. Don't do much off roading but don't want rubbing issues either.
Thanks in advance

Bigger, bigger, bigger!

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend considering how you plan to use it. If serious wheeling is in the forecast, then bigger might be warranted. If not, a budget boost and 33's might be all you need. If you change your wheels to a better backspacing, you'll easily be able to fit 12.5's in. You'll need no more than 4.5" of backspacing to guarantee no rubbing with 12.5's. If you stay with 11.5's you might be able to keep your factory wheels. I've never researched fitting 11.5's.

Good luck in your choice.

I did just exactly what you plan on doing and i think the wider stance due to the wheel spacers helped my JK take turns better plus the wider stance looks way better

This is the only pic i have of my JK from the front with the spacers on

And this is a side view of my JK with the leveling kit and wheel spacers ... the only thing is that when i installed the rigged ridge front bumper the front end sagged about 1/2 inch so it looks like it has the factor but it s still sits up higher than stock.

I plan on sticking with the stock wheels... so looks like level kit plus wheel spacers. This would able me to fit 33 x 12.5 tires without issues or should I stay with 11.5. Anyone else with pics of this set up would be appreciated.

you can easily run 33/12.5/17 or a 295/70/17 with no problems, as long as you have the wheel spacers. It doesnt look like it in the photos but there is plenty of room for the tires after you install the leveling kit

Here follow this lik and look at post #1313, this guy is running 295/70/17 with no lift or leveling kit. You can also go back a page or two and look at post #1308 this guy is riding on 33's with a leveling kit

I think you will really like the look of a bigger tire, especially with spacers. I have read a few posts where those who got stock tire size wished they had gone bigger. Then again, I have also read the posts where people bought 33s and now wish they had done 35s.

I did 285/70/17 on my 2011 with no spacers yet and couldn't be happier.

Just think into the future what you might be doing, this stuff is addictive. I said i wouldnt be doing much of this rock crawling, and i have tried a little bit of it and MAN is it fun, to be out their with a group of people and going over this insane terrain is just plain out fun for the whole family. So dont let what you do now stop you from having that fun later down the reoad. Ive got alot of stuff to do to my jeep that i thought i would never need, now i need everything Any ways enjoy this site, it is great
