Default New Jk warranty lift question

Hey all, I am purchasing a JK 2013 today and am trying to decide on lifts. I am not a bargain shopper so I would like to get the best lift avalable. My dealer handles AEV and Teraflex. My desire is to go with a Metalcloak 2.5 game changer kit. Dealer says if I go with something they don't support then it could affect warranty. I haven't spoke with the Metalcloak guys yet but was just wondering what some of your thoughts are on this.

By the way great forum I have learned a lot in a short time. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I'm not to sure about this but I think some of the warrenty fixing or replacing is based on what you can get your dealership to go along with... The dealership out here stands by BDS lifts. They will fix or replace anything goes wrong with those if they install it. Its not so with other lifts. I think some of the dealership have agreements with the lift companies and use thier warrenties to offset issues with the lifts and not so much Jeep company.

Just because a dealer "deals" with certain lift companies does not mean they will honor their agreements.

There have been many many people here that bought lifted new Jeeps from the dealer only to have the cheapest lifts installed, not installed correctly, and warranties voided. They may say they'll cover the warranty, but unless they install the lift and you get it in writing, you will more than likely get screwed.

If you get to choose your lift from those brands, and get the new warranty in writing, I would suggest going with a complete spring/coil/ control arm or control arm bracket AEV lift. Teraflex is great quality too, but less expensive.

Whatever they say get it in writing. They told me to go through them for a lift and they will not void the warranty. As someone suggest on this forum I asked for them to put it in writing. After I asked, he said he had to talk to his manager first. Well I guess he didn't like the fact I was getting it in writing and didn't come back to chat. 10mims later my jeep was done and I just left.

TeraFlex offers a LifeTime Warranty to the original purchaser of the kit. So if you had the dealer install our kit, you would be the original purchaser. It seems that every Jeep dealer has their own way of handling warranties.

You folks have helped a lot. Any work done by the dealer I will have them confirm in writing any upgrades they supply and instal will not affect the OEM warranty as well the materials they install have same or better warranty as the OEM. If not then I wil be on my own with the upgrades and will work with a local shop. I am not concerned with the comercial side as much as I am the technical side and getting the right lift / suspension for what I will be using the jeep for.

Freeway and around town is critical but I also want to be able to let it loose on the trails and occasional rocks. My head says go with a 2.5 and 35, my ego says go with 3.5 and 37.

If the dealer goes for the warranty agreement he could make a grip of cash today as I will be going with bumpers, lights, winch, and compressor.

I think you picked out a great lift with the Metal Cloak. Don't let someone talk you into a lift you don't really want. The Metal Cloak lift is well thought out and many are switching over to their joints. Theirs is a system not a kit.

Stick with your desires! The MetalCloak System is well thought out, and they've paid attention to even the smallest details that others have not. I have their 3.5" system, and it's awesome! It drives really well on, and off road. Give them a call, they love to talk Jeeps.
