Default New member questions....

Hey yall, I was wondering if someone had some advice about improving my stock JKU Rubicons gas mileage? I was thinking just get a K&N but then wondered if I should get an Airaid CAI setup. I eventually want to put some beefier tires with all black wheels, custom bumpers from JCR Offroad (they are in my neck of the woods), a lightbar (see my other thread question about my direction there) and a nice set of custom/aftermarket rock sliders. I thought about just using my stock wheels and getting wheel spacers to give it a more aggressive stance instead of forking out a ton in new wheels and tires. Any thoughts on that idea as well?

I appreciate any help yall can give a new Rubicon owner

What year is your jk? You can always buy a programmer if it's pre 2011. Intakes and such don't really add much mpg's to offset the cost of the part. But if you want the sound of the intake then it's worth buying it. You can choose a good tire that will not be too harsh on the milage too such as duratracs or terra grapplers. I've given up on caring too much about my milage because if it mattered that much to me, then I wouldn't be drivin a jeep.

It's a 2012. I know I went from a 2005 Mustang and a 2011 Cruze ECO to this so I know mpg was an afterthought. I just figured if there was any way to offset the extra weight of my mods it would be a good thing. Just curious is all.

It is my daily driver as well. So a CAI and/or K&N filter wont help much? Airaid claims their throttle body spacer will improve hp and mpg. When I had my mustang i was told that was bs. Not sure what to think of that one....

Thanks for your point of view

Yea I'm in the same boat. They have no tunes for the 3.6 yet. I don't believe in tb spacers especially on v6's. I have the k&n drop in filter and have noticed no improvements. I use an app on my phone to calculate my precise milage and it's been steady throughout all my mods and added weight. The only time I had a 1 mpg drop was after my 35" duratracs but it could be worse. Depending on your tires, a re-gear may help but my car is very happy with the stock 4.10s and 35's. Just shop around for light weight parts. When I got my winch, I went synthetic to save a few pounds for example.
