New Product Request !!
Vendors please make a new product called "tire toolbox"
It can be plastic or aluminum and it needs to be the approximate shape and size of the OE spare tire. And bolt to the OE tire carrier.
I would put a horizontal hinge on it so you can open the upper half or the lower half. You can make little shelves inside as well to organize D-Rings and such.
The stock Carrier is happy with about 75#s so 75# - toolbox weight = capacity. Should be great for stow straps, snatch blocks, winch whips, a few tools, etc.
This will allow those with bigger spares to throw them in the back but the net storage volume for the Jeep is somewhat maintained by the new "tool box" attached to the OE carrier.
No 3rd brake relo
No LP relo
No Carrier Purchase
No Bumper Purchase

Do you mean shaped like a tire?? If so I think it would be hard to keep it from looking kind of cheesy. However I do agree that a tool box mounted on the tailgate, for those who don't use it for their spare, would be a pretty good use of the space. Very limited market though.
I'd sure like to see a concept!

Shaped like a tire yes, but I my mind I would like
black diamond plate aluminum to be the material.
Aluminum would allow you to have CB tabs and light tabs welded to the outside.

Back when my wife and I owners the late 99 Wrangler.. I had this idea of a new type of fender for that year wrangler.. We were at her uncles home in Tennessee and I was openly talking about the idea, when Jimmy (uncles older son) heard me.. He's like "Hey I work for a plastics molding company and I can create something in 3D this afternoon"
Later that day.. he came back from his shop with a 3d image as printed off their system computer.. "YES!, that's it" Jimmy had takin my idea and actually was able to create the design so I could actually see if on paper.
We still have that idea and the documentation, I've sort of submitted (without giving to much away) this idea to companies like Bushwacker, Warn and Delta.. all simply said, it wasn't worth creating..
Now that we have our 08 Wrangler which has a different type of fender.. this idea would work even better, thou it would have to be redesigned to fit.
So here is what we (Jimmy and I) are facing, we'd have to redesign the fender, seek approval from his company to create the mold which will cost $50,000 after which, we can take the mold to companies like Bushwacker etc or seek out new companies willing to create this product.
My suggestion and vendor offer.. help us create this design fender.

Ran into the same issue with a toy my cousin recently patented - US mold was twice as expensive, but no where near 50k - overseas was just under half the price, and 1/3 the time to create and deliver..
Just a thought - you might look at Kickstarter; raise the money off donations, and get exposure to investors/distributors/manufacturers etc., etc..
