They look like one of those products that may be better/worse than they look in a photo... I would be curious to see these installed...

i want an auto shift handle that has the same looks s the transfer case shift knob. and either ditch the button or put it on the front where your hand naturally presses it when you pull the lever out of park. and make it plastic, metal is too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer

Id like to make a petition so a vendor to make that and have it cost $50 or so.

I've been on the fence about this one and this thread is pushing me over I have someone who can make these, but I wasn't sure about demand. If I can get some feedback on pricing and design, I'll send out a request for quote.

BTW, I'll get pricing for the manual also.

For now can I get some folks to post up some design ideas? They will need to be round (like made on a lathe) and have a button on top, in the middle. Basic vertical designs can be done, like the side slots on the ones pictured at the beginning of this thread. I would also like feeback on having the shifting diagram engraved on the top of the transfer case knob.

And though cool, no the following will NOT work:

woods, the more you can make it look like the transfer case lever, the better.

Give me what was initially shown when the first pics came out for the JK. I believe the Compass and the Patriot have similar shift levers that the JK should have come with.

Believe it or not, right after I bought my JK I thought to myself, sure would be nice to have a better looking shifter. Started looking in the mags and haven't seen any. That brought my thoughts back to the old Hurst knob (bottom pic). I actually like it better than any I've seen. Use the same design but put the button on the side like the JK has. Oh, and I personally would like the whole works just a little taller. I think I would like the aluminum better than plastic. Even tho it would be colder in the winter, it's not like I'm shifting it all the time. And it doesn't get hot enough up here in AK to be a problem. I just think the more HD feel you would get with the aluminim would be nicer. Guess I'm just remembering the old Hurst knob from the muscle car days. Oops.......showin' my age again....ha!!!

I would like to get one like this and use the red button to turn off the overdrive in order to get the button somewhere user friendly. The engineer that placed the od button where it is stock needs kicked in the ass until their nose bleeds. This one sells for ~$33.

Does anyone know the thread size on the auto JK? This particular Hurst is 3/8 16.

Hey Blue.....Now that would be sweet. If they could use the red button on the side for the OD, then I guess it wouldn't be too bad to have the shift lever on the other side of the knob towards the dash like the one in the pic. But that lever in the pic kinda looks low. Without actually seeing the size of the thing it's hard to say, but it looks like you'd almost have to reach way over the top over the knob and down to put your fingers in the two wholes.....no? Just seems like that lever should be up, and closer to the knob so both it and the knob would be an easy fit in your hand all at once. I could be wrong, and how they have it may be fine, just hard to tell from the pic.
Oh and please don't make the side button red......black would be find. I'm sure I'd hate a red button damn near as much as that blinding high beam blue....ha!!!!
PS.....I also agree, what a stupid spot on the JK for the OD. At least somewhere on the steering wheel or something would have been better than that. Shouldn't have to lean forward and down from a reclining seat position to push the damn thing...!!!

That is actually a T-handle configuration in the pic.
